The Club Website

We’re excited to announce some significant improvements to our website. These are designed to make visiting and using the website a more enjoyable and productive experience.

Firstly, we’re increasing the size of the fonts we use, so the text is easier to read. Secondly, we’re introducing a new structure for the content on the pages, using better headings, so you can find what you’re looking for quickly.

Everyone is welcome in our club, and we think these changes will make our website a much more welcoming place too!

Nellie

There shouldn't be any general adverts on the Club website. However I suspect what has happened is the IT team have set it up to accommodate the Volvo adverts but once that promotion ended Google have just filled the space with general advertising. Its entirely up the the Club's IT department whether the website is set up for advertising and I have no issue with that if its member related promotions. I suspect what has happened is that two departments within the Club are not talking to each other. Whoever does the advertising should have told the IT department that the promotion was over and the IT department should have then reverted the website to none advertising. Does nobody from the IT department have a rummage through Club Together to see what is happening? Probably not.

David for the record I think the CAMC website is rubbish and the IT department appears not fit for purpose but they cannot always control what you see as addition to their web pages.  That is mostly down to weaknesses in the individual computer setups.  Users have to take their own measures to mitigate these things and protect themselves.

I don’t think it is wholly the Club website here, it’s Google harvesting information, and dropping in adverts it thinks we might be interested in. I get loads of Temu ones (cheap, dodgy clothing, footwear etc……) rather (to me) distressing photos of caged mistreated pigs, and the “funny” photos all the time.

I’d never used Google much up to having problems with my email back in March, and then had to set up a new email address to piggyback my retired blueyonder email address to via Virgin. I just chose a Google Mail one, and hey presto, I am now in their clutches.

The point about the advertisements on here is they are appearing in a space set up by the Club to show promotions. In my view the Club need to recode that space on the website so we don't get random adverts. Many websites allow adverts as an extra income stream, a good example would be free phone apps. Some forums allow advertising as it contributes to the running cost. However I can't see the Club needing to "earn extra income" from some rather questionable adverts?

Currently I am not seeing any adverts, just blank spaces where they used to be?

Just instal an ad blocker or if you have one make sure it is active on the CAMC site.  AdBlockPlus is good Ad Block Plus.  Simples!

As a matter of interest my ad blocker is currently reporting that it is blocking 13 ads on this page.  I can see all the CAMC stuff but nothing else.

Yes, I have used Adblocker Plus, and nothing now on here other than CAMC stuff. I think the page loaded a lot faster as well, so that’s a bonus. 👍 Thank you😁

I’m not really that bothered about the booking platform not working, as we won’t be booking or even looking at Club Sites until Winter months at the earliest. I can book CCC anyway if needed. I have contact numbers direct to a lot of our favourite CLs. Cant get away at all at moment anyway.😕

Good to hear, however, I'm pretty sure that if you install and use Opera you will be able to access CAMC booking.  Opera also provides the advantage of a built in VPN which will stop your problems with tracking.

Now why doesn't that surprise me, David  that departments within the "Club" do not talk to each other as the whole of the company is dire with regards to communication, especially to its members.

I am finding it really hard to use CT. Not only is the text when replying still far too small, the bold shouty heading are making it difficult to read. I wonder is any one is taking any notice of what has been said here and is doing anything about it !!!
