Selling via the site classifieds ?

I just thought I should make folk aware that I believe the site 'classifieds' in the Shop and Offers section are in my view subject to 'scammers' ! I recently advertised an article in the classified columns and received an enquiry from Scotland (I am in Gloucestershire), followed by a request to buy my item (£50), and arrange collection of it at a later date. The 'buyer' explained that he was buying it on behalf of his cousin, but was currently experiencing difficulties with his bank account etc etc, and wanted to pay by cheque. He therefore 'needed' and asked for, my entire bank details - a/c number, sort code, full name/address, phone number etc ! Oh yes, he also apologised for his poor English as he was originally from 'Alabania' ! (his spelling, not mine).

I gave it much thought, for a fraction of a second, before deleting the email and informing the Club office and their advertising folk, who advised that I was not the first, and they are taking steps to tighten up their system. BEWARE !
