Sorry I can't answer your question. However there are quite a few other differences. The main one for me is the new for old extends to 15 years old, rather than 5 years. Is your van older than this? I would have though that this is what most of the additional premium is for.

Hi. I don't know the wording on your household policy and I have my caravan insured with Saga.
You would have to check your policy wording on your household insurance to see if there is any specific exclusions relating to caravans or territorial limits and then see if there is a gap that is covered by the caravan insurance policy. I know Saga's caravan policy specifically excludes any cover that is picked up elsewhere but does cover me if I lent my caravan to a friend or a family member and somehow they caused some liability to fall on me. This wouldn't be covered by my household cover.
In order to give a more comprehensive answer I would have to study both sets of wordings, i.e. your household policy and your caravan one.
Sorry can't be any more helpful.

The personal liability of your household policy will have limitations but these can vary from company to company so you need to check yours to see what they are, but a vehicle exclusion might include caravans. The premium for this cover is minimal though on the caravan policy as claims under this section are almost unheard of.
There are a few people out there without house insurance so it does help them but if they do not insure the house I doubt they have the super policy if they have one at all.
