Outfit Matching

Just tries it myself and it works fine, i have a new XC60 and even the 2016 models are all listed there also looked for Passat and that seemed ok, on the Mondeo years 2013 ann 2014 are missing, is this what you are getting.

I have had a very similar problem in doing a match.  My car details (a Mazda CX-5) on the outfit matching service are completely wrong - the vehicle kerbside weight is over 100kg lighter than in the vehicle handbook and on the vehicle plate. I have contacted the Caravan Club and been told that as the matching service is not operated by them they cannot amend it. I would suggest do a Google search. There is a free matching service which allows you to amend the weights. Can I suggest you contact the Caravan Club direct as the more of us that provide feedback may make them do something.

If you have a VAG DSG gearbox insert 'manual' in car search!  Should be there.

Thanks, comeyras, entering manual instead of automatic has sorted it. At this stage, the new Mondeo is looking favourite subject to sorting whether Ford's towball limit of 75kg is correct or the C.C.'s claim that they have had notification from Ford that the limit is actually 90kg. (The 2012 towball limit is 90kg. No-one seems to know which is correct !!!

Am I doing something wrong? I have today tried to use the outfit matching service but am getting nowhere. I entered the details from the drop down lists of the car that I'm thinking about buying. It doesn't seem to be recognised. After trying a couple more times and getting nowhere I tried entering my current car. Again, not apparently recognised. If they were unusual cars I could have understood it but I'm talking about a VW Passat and a Ford Mondeo. Any suggestions please?

No I dont think you are doing anything wrong at all. I have found the facility pretty poor TBH. eg if I check our 'van with our car it comes up with a match but with a caveat about the weight being over 85% which is fine, I would expect it to. BUT if I put our 'van details in and ask it to check for cars that are suitable it doesn't mention our car, even with the caveat about the weight.

TBH I didn't use the service when looking for a tow car and just used the weights provided by manufacturers and worked them out by myself, it ws labourious but I felt I wasn't eliminating suitable vehicle choices just becaus the ratio was more than 85% which the on line service seems to do.

Not sure why we need the service. Your registration document gives you the kerb weight of the car and the towing limit. 

If the caravan exceeds the towing limit then you are on a non starter. If not compare the weights and for beginners aim at 85% of kerb weight if you are experienced make sure you are towing less than the kerb weight and preferably les say 90%.

I think the idea is sound - when you are drawing up a shortlist of potential towcars, after all when you are doing this you dont have the registration documents to hand. However the application seems flawed as some of us have discovered and use alternative sources of the data, which is more time comsuming.
