May Day Renewal

I received the renewal notification of my May Day policy while we were away. Yesterday I noticed on the back page of the Club's magazine that new customers to May Day Premium UK Cover were being given a free site night voucher. So today I contacted them and stopped the renewal and took out a new policy at the same cost as my renewal, with the promise of the voucher, all for the cost of one phone call. Well pleased, as the young ones say!!Happy

Same here ( loyalty counts for nothing ) started to renew online and saw the clubs advert and thought NO phone up instead. First of all told it was for new customers only told them the advert did not exclude renewals.

The ad does say"New Customers only. Hence the reason I did not renew but took out a new policy.

Just be careful it is not on a day when you are towing. As I believe the full benifits of the policy, such as recovery, do not come into force for 24 hours. Presumably to stop folk taking out a policy  after breaking down. I am sure it could probably be sorted out, but the last thing I would want is a refusal when stranded on the hard shoulder. I suppose they might let you overlap them by a day.

Those vouchers cost money. If more people cheat like that the vouchers will soon go as the insurers will be unable to keep it up. I suppose it is partly the insurers fault and they need to fix their system to recognise this and make it clear that taking out a replacement policy is not permitted.

Advertising what you have done probably has made the insurers more aware of the problem and will bring forward the day the system changes.

I resent you calling me a cheat, Wildwood. All I did was use the system as it has been set up. The person I dealt with at May Day had no problem with what I did, so why the accusation of cheating? Have you never used a system to suit your own means?

I do think that you are cheating. The idea of the offer is to encourage people to take up the service and it would certainly not be viable to give this at renewal without putting up the premium to pay for it. By playing the system you are likely to stop the benefit  losing it for others. Broadcasting it will encourge more people to do it and may hasten the end of this perk.

Of course its not cheating, how absurd. It's taking advantage of an option allowed from a company that shows no loyalty to its present customer base.

Sorry it is. The idea of giving out a voucher at each renewal is simply nonesense. It has to be paid for and the OP has simply not considered the reasoning or thought out the long term consequences.

Perhaps the club should do it more often!! With the voucher I will use a club site for a few days where othewise I would probably use a CL. So it's a win win situation....cheaper site fees for me and additional nights booking for the club.Kiss
