In praise of Mayday

I've had Mayday (Green Flag) cover for the last 14 years and never had to call upon their services. That is until Monday 28 Jan 2019 when I was driving my car & caravan, on my own, along the A66 from Keswick back home to Cambridgeshire. About 5 miles west of Scotch Corner I had a heart attack. I'd had one a year ago so knew that this was for real. Luckily I was able to pull into a lay-bay and dial 999 for an ambulance. This came from Hawes and took about 45 minutes to get to me. I left the car & caravan locked up by the side of the A66 and the ambulance blue-lighted me to James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough where, on arrival, I was taken straight into the cath lab for angioplasty to remove a blood clot from a stent fitted a year ago.

This was a painful and worrying experience but later that afternoon I was able to call Mayday who arrranged for my car & caravan to be recovered at about 7pm from the A66 to a secure storage yard in Ripon. I was discharged from hospital on 1st Feb and my car & caravan were delivered to my Cambridgeshire home on 6 Feb.

I would have been totally lost without the Mayday cover and consider the current and previous years premiums to have been a more then worthwhile investment. Excellent Service.

Ditto to Tinner's comments and glad to hear you survived to tell the tale! 😀

Wishing you a speedy recovery to full health. Good to know that we have a great NHS and that MayDay acted as one would hope when paying the premium, that's the test!

I have always found the service first class but due to the restrictions in returning a car to my home and the caravan to storage I cannot see me renewing.
