Hi everyone!

Share your views about our UK Club campsite facilities and earn a cash reward!

We’re partnering with Discovery Research, an independent research agency, to gather some feedback to help us deliver great holidays on UK Club campsites. We love to hear your feedback on likes and dislikes, suggestions for improvements and reactions to new ideas.

We’re now looking for some members to take part in a short online research community to help shape future UK Club campsite facilities.

About the research community:

  • The online community will run 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • There will be 3 tasks to be completed - one per day
  • Each task will take approximately 30-45 minutes
  • To help us understand your thoughts, we may ask you to share pictures/ video about the topics we will be discussing
  • By taking part you will earn a thank you cash reward!

To be eligible to take part you must:

  • Have visited a UK Club campsite in the past 12 months
  • Be available to participate 11, 12 and 13 April 2022
  • If you fancy participating and can answer yes to both of the above questions, simply register your interest before before Wednesday 6 April by clicking HERE to complete a short Google form hosted by our trusted partner Discovery Research.

As you’ll appreciate, we need to involve a really good mix of members to ensure we get well-rounded feedback, so whilst we won’t be able to follow up with everyone who registers, we do truly appreciate all interest shown. After registration, if you’ve been selected a Discovery researcher will be in touch with you to confirm your participation.

And not many car parks have this sort of view.

To reinforce DK's point about people wanting SP these are the standards pitches and there were more outfits on the service pitches (39 out of 44)  that weekend than the standard pitches (35 out of 144). On both there were the same proportion of motorhomes, about one third.

The site is all HS so the popularity of the SP can't be due to that and so it would appear that people were prepared to pay the extra £4.90 to have a SP. I notice the same pattern for the next BH with less than 5 pitches remaining on SP.

Maybe not, but we've stayed on CLs with similar views, where we had a lot more space between pitches than that.  To me, that is just a glorified carpark, ok, there are views from said pitches, but at a minimum of £30.30 per night for 2 people, going up to £42.20 per night, (which I find well over the top for a site), not to mention the cost for a SP, I can get better, not to mention cheaper, much cheaper.

As you always point out, it's all about choice and I know what I would choose for that sort of money.  Could get a pitch for 2 nights for that with much more space and individuality.

the older part of Southport is nice, however the newer part is horrible .... acres of gravel and hardly a tree or bush in sight.

And that photo of the side was very misleading. Much more travel and car park like, with no views other than the unit opposite. Horrible, and the town is so run down now too.

Yes all about choice. I'm glad you believe you can get better it's great you think or know you get cheaper, much cheaper prices and more individuality...everyone chooses what they think is best.

I'm not trying to get you to go to club sites so I'm not sure what your post is about with all the details about pricing. You're happy and so great.

I know what I would choose too and I think it's worth what I pay and is better all round than your choice. So we're all happy.

My post was in reaction to your post; surely part of people's holidays is about cost, and in view of all the recent price rises is an important part of deciding whether a site is worth the fees payable.  Perhaps you are in the fortunate position of not having to consider site fees and will pay whatever it costs; unfortunately there are lots of other people who are not in such a priviliged position, hence that was what my "post is about with all the details about pricing".

I know what I would choose too and I think it's worth what I pay and is better all round than your choice. So we're all happy.

"and is better all round than your choice"

Forgive me, but how can you know that what you choose is better all round than my choice? Do you know what my choice of site is, other than that I prefer a CL to the photo you posted of Troutbeck Head?

As I said, it's about choice, but please don't put words into my mouth and don't imply that your choice is better than mine, thank you.

Sheesh, it’s not a competition. Everyone's choice is right for them. From glamping to muddy field CLs, it’s all there. Let’s celebrate that👍🏻

I did complete day 2 of the survey - which as has been said up thread was all about toilet blocks.

One question was to allocate about 30 different items into essential, desirable etc.  They ranged from toilets to wet suit washing & drying, to music in the loos, to separate bathrooms..

A number of different sites were highlighted with pictures and comments asked for - Black Knowl, Carnon Downs, Hillhead, Cayton Village.

Questions around would you rather have one super duper loo block or a couple of standard ones.

I managed to get some stuff in about only loo emptying being essential and preferred no facility sites.  This seemed to cause some consternation and I had a couple of responses asking for further info about this, including from the moderator/admin why did I prefer this sort of site and how could the Club "help" with this!!!

Unfortunately I then lost e mail access for two days.  I did send an e mail to the organisation giving answers to these point - dont know if it will be accepted or not.

However the loss of internet meant I didn't see or complete day 3.

Appreciate yours and WTG's feedback on the survey. Perhaps unfair of me to say this as I didn't volunteer, I think something was happening on one of the days, but a little surprised that only two on here took part, or at least reported back. Hopefully the Club will report back on the outcome of the survey.

Just a worry that it was clear from both of you that the people engaged to carry out he survey had very limited knowledge of our hobby if they seemed to be confused by comments that all of us on here would understand? I suppose, if this forum is anything to go by, things do often go off at a tangent which makes following the script more difficultwink

"and is better all round than your choice"

A little selective posting there InD. Not a question btw, if you read carefully I actually wrote:

I know what I would choose too and I think it's worth what I pay and is better all round than your choice

Did you spot the and ? And was there any mention of site?

Do you know what my choice of site is,

Well actually yes I think I do, you told me fully in your post exactly what sort of site in terms of costs and you even told me that was your choice (in bold below)

As you always point out, it's all about choice and I know what I would choose for that sort of money. Could get a pitch for 2 nights for that with much

You think you choice is the right one, and it is for you, but apparently mine isn't, wasting all that money when I could save so much.

As to putting words into your mouth I just don't understand that in any way shape or form, sorry.

As for being privileged to afford club sites, a lot of others do as well it would seem, well sadly the club isn't a charity and everyone surely pays what they can to give value for their money, as simple as that really.

I'll carry on with club sites as they give me a better all round experience and offer better value for money, a better product all round. That is my choice. I do not expect anyone to follow that, understand it, or agree. As always choose whatever makes you happy. This is my final word on this, but add something if you wish.

Thanks to WTG and hja for sharing as much as they have. I sincerely hope that the Club does share the survey results, it would be very interesting. I am sure that a good few more folks took part, but perhaps don’t want to share their experiences.

I think this year is going to be “interesting” in terms of filling pitches, for the Club. A glance at availability yesterday surprised me in terms of just how much is available, and even the usually busy Sites have something.
