Club Site TV Booster

During our first visit to Bolton Abbey site we noticed that the TV Booster used an Analog signal which ourAvtex L187DRS TV couldn't pick up. I understand that as a result of Analog being replaced by digital, new TV's are not being fitted with Analog tuners.

Does anyone know if Club Site TV Boosters all use Analog signals?

It  seems the OP is correct. At least according to the site details leaflet. Extract below:-

TV reception

TV reception on site is poor. Site has a TV booster system in place, giving out a analogue signal, receiving 12 channels.

Not a lot of good unless you have an older TV, which had two tuners as standard, for a time.

Strange the Club has not converted the distribution system to digital. I wonder why because I don't think there is any over the air transmissions left on analogue therefore there must be a local conversion to analogue over cable somewhere.

They need to get that sorted quickly!

Morvich was analogue when I was there three years ago.

Now digital,  but not brilliant.  8 channels BBC 1 / 2 ITV & 4 OK  but selection of other feesat channels with sound out of sync. I note it currently has no signal whatsoever, due to technical issues.

I assume the freesat or freeview signal is converted to analogue on site. Very much as we did at the very beginning of digital TV, so we could view it on our old set. I assume it is not as simple as just removing the digibox and connecting the digital signal to the site loop. I have noticed when on site some of the cabinets have TV distribution / booster on them. Perhaps these need updating. If they do there would be cost / time implications. Perhaps  if someone from the club reads this thread, we may get an answer.

normally when you see the magic number 8 it means the site is picking up and distributing the freeview signal from a freeview repeater rather than a main transmitter. These repeaters were installed to try to service signal black spots.

I think freshwater east is another serviced this way.

They are also usually vertically polarised.
