Having received notification that the CC will beat my Renewal quote by £25 I tried to get a quote on-line from the club. Went through the usual palava filling in the data required and then the message came back that I'd have to phone for a quote!!! What is this all about!! What a waste of time!! Don't they want my trade?

The Caravan Club does want your business, please be assured.  If this message appears it is because they need to discuss something with you in order for the quote to proceed. I understand your frustration but plese give them a ring and hopefully this can be resolved.       Jean

Unfortunately My Profile can only show insurance policies that you have taken out with us at head office.  Our motor/motorhome insurance is on a different system and at the moment they do not link up

Thanks, Jean. I'll do just that and give an up-date when I have a result.

You can get this with any insurance web site. The site is set up to quote for certain fixed criteria. If you miss any of them then you need to phone. We have even used comparison sites and found that if you look to buy the insurer may in fact ask for more information before deciding to confirm the figure given.

This is not a failure of the site but a common limitation of the system used by all companies although some may have a wider number of standard quotes than others. Basically they are looking for the thirty year old married man in a safe job and no claims or convictions. At the other extreme is the twenty year old with a drunk driving conviction and a serious accident history. Basically somewhere between the two the computer runs out of authority.
