A simple question. As the caravan club no longer offer caravan insurance as such what suggestions for a new insurer that does.

Did you know that you can delay effecting the overseas cover on Saga Caravan policy until you need it thereby only paying a pro-rata rate for it?

Saga do just act as a broker but have claims settlement authority. Plus they will pay for repatriation costs, up to a limit, for the caravan from abroad if it suffers accidental damage, something the CCs policy never did (don't know if that is still the case).

Meant to warn you that if you do add it on then the renewal premium usually includes it as standard so you need to have it taken off again until you do in fact need it.

If you take out mayday you will notice that is breakdown cover. Does anyone have problems with them coming out when they breakdown.

Totally different scenario Dave. Years ago I took legal action against an insurance company. They paid up before the court case. I would have felt less comfortable taking court action based on a document that says (paraphrasing for brevity ) ' we may pay out but totally at our discretion'. I would be far happier if they substituted 'will' for may' rater than other way round. I would not expect to have to take legal action to obtain a satisfactory pay out but then I didn't expect that previously!

I am sure it used to be called breakdown insurance. In fact my breakdown cover is Britannia rescue owned by Liverpool Victoria insurance.

Long ago a gentleman on here with experience in the world of insurance told me only to look at car and caravan insurances which had a five star Defaqto rating - because all the lesser ones had some shortfall or other in the cover they provide.

If you look at the Defaqto website there are 12 companies with that five star rating for Caravan insurance, so you might choose one of those as I did.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have just went ahead and renewed with one of those 5* companies! I chose LV and was very surprised and pleased by their quote😊

Perhaps the CC need to wake up an realise that many members are not happy with their in house Caravan Cover.  IMHO it is as bad as the rebranding and buying Allan Rogers!

The question is why do they never consult members about changes that they are considering?

Maybe they did using a member panel?

From a financial stance if they lost 10% of 'insurances' bringing in house would likely bring more profit

...many members are not happy...

Just wondering how you can say that? Do you have insider information?

All you can possibly say is that there are unhappy members posting on CT, unless you really do have some inside information you're not sharing?

Taking the (haven't counted) 10 to 20 (?) posters on here and taking that to many members is a little fanciful?

I am am sure that the club will keep a careful eye on how popular and profitable its cover is and base (as always) its course of action based on reality not which is posted on here?

And of course many members may not even have the club's cover anyway.
