hi all

i was just wondering if you are covered if you fetch and leave the carvan at home for servicing/cleaning maintanence ect as it doesnt seem to state anything in the handbook as when a service is booked i will have to take the van out of storage and it will be left at the side of the road for the day while i was a work just wondered if i will be covered

Insurance company is the one to ask

Are you saying you will need to leave the van on the road to have it serviced by a mobile service?

We take our van strait from storage to service centre

Or it can be serviced at the storage by mobile service

We also wash the van at our storage

yes the van will need to be left on road/parking area at the side of road so a mobile service man can service it also cleaning is done at the same time

Then i should definatly check with you insurance company, and is the mobile man able/willing to do a service on the road?    can it not be done at your storsge?as it does need both wheels removed

Why would it not be? So long as you comply with the security aspects of your policy as you would when travelling not sure why it would not be covered.

...Depends if it is cheaper as it is normally kept in a storage compound, our insurance allows to be taken home for loading

I think that the CC allows a certain number of hours away from storage to allow for loading and unloading. Possibly 24-48 but can't remember for sure.

In all cases it is best to check it out with your insurance company.  Not only do insurance companies vary, but from what I can gather the same insurance company may even be different according to where you live.

It depends on who you are insured with, if I remember correctly tbe club policy allows three days away from the storage site for cleaning and servicing but others will vary so check the policy. As long as the policy gives a period of cover for this then the insurer must accept any claim if you do that but you will probably have to fit the agreed security devices.
