Big Thanks to CC and P&O

Coming up through Spain and back into France, Catherine started to have a dry cough and shortness of breath. We reached our daughter's house in the Alpes and he GP diagnosed that Catherine had pnemonia. This was confirmed by xray and ct scan in the following two days.

We had booked our ferry home for the 14th and had to amend our booking, but to which date? The Caravan Club Travel Service and P&O  between them arranged for a new date but with fexibibilty to change again.

After 10 days on antibiotics, Catherine had made a little progress and she wanted to get home. We travelled the 600 miles to Calais in 3 days, stopping at Ibis and Campanile motels with ground floor rooms and parking for our motorhome. The final stumbling block would be the stairs on the ferry! Once again CC and P&O came up trumps. Between them thay arranged for us to be parked next to a lift and for a wheel chair to be available.

A big thank you to the crew of the Pride of Kent for looking after us so well.. In particular, thanks to Alan Philips for getting Catherine to and from the car deck.

Catherine has spent a week in hospital, where stronger medication  has led to a big improvement in her condition. Thank you Nottingham City Hospital.

I thought it was offered as a matter of course, I have certainly had mine and think it was offered when going to the surgery for a check up.

Peedee

As with all these things I expect it varies from surgery to surgery. We were having our flu jabs and happened to ask how we go about getting the pnemonia jab and we were given it there and then without question but we did have to ask!!!.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. After weeks of walking, cycling and swimming, Catherine's sudden ill-health came as  shock. We would urge everyone who can, to seek immunisation.

Our immediate holiday plans have been cancelled, but we hope to be back in our motorhome by late summer.
