***I tried to post this about 5 hours ago, thankfully I saved it before hitting post! I know it seems silly to ask something like this when the CC can barely manage a website, never mind anything else, but it's something I've wondered about for ages.***
OK, can I start by saying that I realise that not everybody has or wants Facebook and it's not the centre of the Earth but...
Is there a reason why the Caravan Club doesn't have an official Facebook page? I'm aware of an unofficial one, which has nearly 15,000 people who like it. That's nearly 15,000 people who want to be connected to the club via FB, that the club is somehow happy to ignore. I'm a bit confused by this - why would you pass up such free advertising? An official page would surely grow massively and is an easy way to stay in contact with members.
FB can be a great way for a company to interact with the public. I can't help but think that it seems a bit old fashioned to be steadfastly refusing to join the modern world, which really doesn't help with the image of the CC at all. I can understand concerns regarding moderation of comments, but it is possible to turn these functions off.
The CC could use FB to promote their own sites and CLs - just like the CCC does on theirs. Member offers and promotions, like kids stay for 1p, could also feature and show members and non-members alike what fantastic value a CC membership can be.
So is there an official line on why there is no Facebook (or Twitter or even Instagram) presence? I refuse to believe that no one has ever mentioned it before, so someone somewhere has made the decision that it's not happening. I’m really interested in the answer.
PS If you need someone to do it, I'll send you my details. I'm serious!
