Why do they call it "a Holiday"

Since I retired I consider I am on permanent holiday. So no problem with them referring to bookings as such. However, if I was still working, I think I would definitely consider each and every break a holiday. So I am afraid it's just you.???

I can think of a lot of things to get worked up about but being told to enjoy a holiday isn't one of them.

 

"Enjoy the pursuit of your leisure activity" isn't exactly snappy is it? No, holiday will do for me ( not that I get any of those reminder emails to start with!) 

Anything with the word 'holiday' in it has got to be a good thing

I always regarded a holiday as a break from work so having been retired for a few years (although still doing consultancy work) I tend to say "we're going away for a while". Friends and colleagues still working reply ..."enjoy your holiday" those retired say "enjoy your trip".

Being retired we don't have holidays, we just go and live somewhere else for a while.

And another one. All our trips away are holidays, even though we're retired and no longer work, apart from cleaning the van that is.
