What on Earth has happened to our club?

I do appreciate that there is already one thread running about the 72 hour rule but i am beginng to fear that the club is losing its way. It used to be THE club for serious caravanners. It provided great sites, fantastic CL's etc but above all was there to serve its members. But in recent times I'm not so sure.

Club site fees are getting much closer to commercial rates today and that is bad enough but I am more concerned at the clubs apparent loss of the personal touch. Take this my latest experience as an example.

We are off to France in less than two weeks but have not had much opportunity to use the van this year because of the terrible weather.  So two weeks ago we booked into a great CC club site for a long weekend in order to sort things out.  We had a great weekend and because of that decided to book again this weekend. The site had storage facilities so in order to save two towing journeys we left the van in storage at site.

Whilst all this was going on I was becoming concerned about a lump which had appeared at the back of my left leg and consulted the doctor who referred me to hospital. Realising that this could affect my rapidly approaching foreign trip I requested a quick appt.

Just as we were about to leave yesterday to start our long weekend with the van the hospital phoned, - would I go in there this morning to have the lump removed. So I phoned the site who helpfully offered to defer my arrival by a day, and also phoned the club to cancel fully as I did not expect to feel well enough for the trip there.

The CC "cancellations" dept appeared helpful and intimated I would not be blacklisted for the late cancellation as it was understandable.  But the E mail I received was very terse and made it clear that I had blackened my name and was now very much under probation!

Well if that is how this club wants to treat its long term members it can certainly do without me!

I am now a very unhappy bunny and looking to bail out of this club that seems to have lost its touch.
