Water, water, not a drop to drink

I can't make my mind up whether to shrug my shoulders at this, or moan.  I'm leaning towards shrugging shoulders but am interested in others' views....

Over the weekend I had a stopoff at the new Strathclyde site near Strathclyde "loch".  Nice enough site, but Club needs to either have a word with the council about the phasing of the traffic lights off the M74 or put a warning on the website : 45 minutes to get from the 300m-to-exit post to a site that's within 1/4 mile of the motorway is just ridiculous. Oh, and I think the contractors are hopeful that chucking some grass seed at builders' rubble will lead to a decent landscape (money saving? I'm sure they turfed Barnard Castle when it opened).

Anyway, to the point.  After checking in I was informed that because the local water authority was cutting off the water for the whole Park overnight, the facilities block would close at 8pm & not re-open until 8am.  Fair enough I guess, beyond the control of the Club.

However, on wandering around, I found a notice on the toilet block informing of the same, dated 20th May.  Wouldn't it have been courteous to email those planning to stay to warn them?  Given advance warning we'd probably have gone elsewhere.

We'd intended getting on the road early but in the end decided to wait until later to avoid a stinky car : with 5 of us onboard, using our own shower wasn't really practicable.

Then I got to thinking.  In effect I'd paid nigh on £40 for a stopover at a Club site where the facilites were only actually available for 4 of the 16 hours I was there...for the remainder of the time I might as well have been on a CL with limited facilities.  Perhaps a discount may have been appropriate?

I guess this comes down to whether the Club's a club, or business.  If it's a club, then I suppose we all muddle on through together.  If a business, well if a hotel offered you an ensuite then said it was off-limits overnight, you'd expect a partial refund regardless of whether it was the hotel's fault.

I dunno, on balance I'm shrugging my shoulders.
