I keep thinking that I stayed on a CC site at Moffat some 30 years ago. Maybe it was a private site.

KjellNN, they do have different sizes of HS, so you will need to contact the booking line at the C&CC to check whether the HS you have booked at your chosen site can accommodate an awning.  I know this because we booked a non awning pitch at Moffat then rang to extend our length of stay and said we would now be using an awning.  That's when we found out they had different sized pitches.  Best when you make a booking to say you have an awning, even if you don't then use one.

Thanks for confirming this, we booked a non awning pitch at Moffat and Keswick as it was winter and knew we wouldn't we putting the canopy out.

We did see some caravans way over the other side of the Moffat site that did have awnings up and in each case the car was parked across the front of the pitch. Same at Keswick, in the good weather if the car was parked on the grass then this would reduce the safety margin between vans so would need to be 'managed' by the site.

Keswick were/are busy changing some of the pitches to service jumbo pitches so there must on some sites be a different size.

Quite happy by all the choices you get but a little more information on pitch size or where about's these pitches are wouldn't go amiss IMO.

WTG explained that grass pitches can move, quiet rightly so to maintain the surface but the H/S don't so no reason not to have a site map. The CMC have grass pitches and just shows on the map the general area rather than individual marked out pitches.

None of my comments are criticisms of either club just pointing out the differences we have noticed as new members to the C&CC.

We have booked Moffat, Dunbar, and Scone for the school Easter break, not a peak time in Scotland with CCC so we still get the over 60s discount.

Kj, We will be at home over the Easter break and Scone is just over the river from us if you fancy a catch up.smile

They've never had site maps TG, quite often it's hard to spot any pitch numbers,  but the site managers obviously know the site layouts, it seems to work. As WTG said they adapt the sites for all the different types of units, groups and single users, you get used to it after a few goes! wink

We have been members of both clubs for many years now, mainly to give us a choice of CL or CS sites. I must admit that CLs are our first choice as sometimes any on site facilities can get muddied up by the tenting fraternity.  Tinhatonemojithingy. wink

That's very kind, we would  enjoy that, long time since our paths last crossed.

We arrive at Scone on the 9th April and are there for 6 nights.

If you drop us an e mail on Kturnedit@gmail.com I will get OH to reply with a "real e mail" and you 2 girls can arrange things between you.
