Have I missed something on here?  I'm reading on caravantalk that there is some big announcement due from the club.  Is this all waffle or is there something in it?

Another improvement?

'To let you know what’s free and when, every Tuesday we’ll send you an email showing you the late availability of up to three sites close to you, to make sure you dont miss those last-minute opportunities.'

That info is easily available on the website. Do I really want another 52 e-mails a year?

It won't be of any interest to us, and I expect a swift unsubscribe will be the way forward.

a) We plan our trips weeks if not months in advance, fitting them in around our other commitments and interests.

b) We never stay anywhere "close to us". If its less than 2 or 3  hours away we go by car.

Gasp, shock, horror! What will we talk about during November and December without frenzy day?

Posted on 25/02/2018 08:03

The topics will be similar CY.

Can't get a booking for Easter Bank Holiday with my family!

Honey pot sites block booked. (For those wanting regular stays in York or at Chatsworth this should make it far easier if they book ahead.)

Weekends booked up well in advance (Now that will be further in advance.)

plus ça change

They snuck this in under the radar. Or was this announced at the show yesterday?

I can't see it will have much affect on us but feel it will probably lead to even more speculative booking. I very much doubt it will make getting peak times at the honeypots any easier. So no change there, and folk will still complain on here.

The only possible effect that I can see is that if I wanted regular weekends at Rowntree I stand an excellent chance of getting plenty .... I don't by the way.

I wonder how they chose the selection for comments. Hopefully at random but somehow I doubt that.

The easiest way for members to remember is that whichever month they are currently in, the same month of the following year (and all months in between) will normally be on sale. The Club intends on putting pitches on sale toward the beginning of every month. Members should quickly become familiar with the new process.

So for those that want Christmas and new year will this mean booking to New Year's Eve in December and then extending it for New Year's Day in January? The same of course will apply to other cross month holidays at popular times. Meaning they have to be booked in two halves to insure getting what you need. I am not sure that is any easier.

Reading the blurb Steve the CC says that at certain times the booking periods will be extended to include such factors.

There are, of course, bookings which fall across two months. In these cases, members can either wait for both months to become available before placing a booking, or can make an initial booking for the dates available in the first month and then amend the booking to encompass the second month, once those pitches have been put on sale.

The Club also intends to put some multiple months on sale together. For example July and August may be put on sale at the same time (the Club will determine the best approach for members as the year progresses).

well this will be a boon for teachers who, apart from Easter (and even then it can be worked out - the week after Easter Monday is usually there), know their dates for the next few yearssmile

I think though there will maybe be a mini 'scramble' on July & August first as members with children will want to book their summer holiday? But then what about those who take a last week in July & first week in August? Book one and then hope for the other? Or go and book somewhere where they can be assured of getting their two weeks?

Post edit - just seen the above sorry - so defiantly a mini scramble on July 1st!

last week in July & first week in August

Always a popular choice for many

I can't see the changes being of much advantage to those of us for one reason or another don't book more than a month ahead, in fact it could make it more difficult.

And how about:-

You said

"As a motorhomer it would be nice to be able to book a hardstanding"

Zilch!!!!

If that is the extent of the changes to the booking system I find it very disappointing!
