Site closure notification

 Why when a site is closed due to bad weather can the CC not notify you?

We have booked to go to Buxton on Sunday and just called the site to find out what the conditions are like only to be told its closed and and a decision as to whether it is going to be opened will be taken late on Saturday or Sunday.

I have a weeks holiday booked and it looks like I have to spend this evening looking for somewhere else to go.
