Red Pennant Query

I have just asked for a quote over the telephone for insurance, motoring and personal, and was asked the date of leaving home address and the date of returning there. This may involve an early departure from home for about 7 days before our ferry crossing. We will be abroad for 30 days so should come under the 31 day price band but the quote goes into the 45 day price band because of 7 days travel to the port being added to the time abroad. I have breakdown cover in the UK and if i need medical assisstance I just go to hospital here. So why am I being charged the extra?
