My OH has often commented that there seems to be an increasing number of motorhomes on club sites.  This made me wonder what the approximate ratio of motorhomes to caravans is in the CC.

Is there a figure for this?

It's remarkable how a casual observation and a fairly trivial question can lead to such debate!  Vans in storage, parking at home, flat batteries, windscreen covers etc......

Remember this all started when OH said that there seemed to be relatively more MHs these days and I wondered what the ratio to caravans was.

Thanks to all who have replied.  Looks like around 3:1 to 2:1 in favour of

Frankly I do not see that it matters what the balance is. We all tour in our preferred manner and the actual vehicle mix is irrelevant.

At Cadeside, (Wellington, Somerset) there are only 16 pitches in total. Last Saturday 14 of the 15 were occupied of which 5 were motor homes and 10 were caravans, a 2 : 1 ratio in favour of caravans.

I did see an article saying motorhome sales were up 20% this year but the caravan manufacturers all seemed to be reporting similar sales increases so not sure the proportion has changed a lot.

Motor Homes ar okay but i would say that about 90% of them are front wheel drive ,which is all very well it they are pitched on hard standing ,but they are useless on soft  ground ,and the majority of owners seem  to think that spinning the front wheels will get them off soft ground.I have spoken to two cl owners who have experienced this have had thier cl pitches ruined and have decided not to accept motor homes.

Fortunately there are quite a few of us who know how to drive off soft ground, I've never churned up any  site I've been on....Cool

I would have thought that quite a few tow cars are front wheel drive ,and pulling the caravan off the pitch can cause the same Sealed
