November Magazine

Just received my copy of the new edition. It has the usual page (page 26) on Days Out. This time it includes the National Memorial Arboretum. Nearest Club campsites: Uttoxeter and High Onn!!!! Both of theses are, as I understand, closed. Certainly the web page for Uttoxeter says closed for the foreseeable future. High Onn, closed for 2023 and although one reference is to being open until 2025 the site is apparently Full for the whole of next year!

These sites were both closed some time ago, so certainly before the magazine went to print. Doesnt anyone check these things?

The article on winterising your van showed the usual bias towards caravans. A one sentence reference to SOME (my emphasis) motorhomes (surely most) having freshwater and waste water tanks that need to have the "tank drain in the open position"! And absolutely no reference to the engine part of a motorhome and winterisation e.g. chocking wheels and releasing handbrake, taking it for a run every few months.  Loved the picture on winterisation, in November, showing a woman washing the van in shorts and vest top!

I really dont know why i bother open the magazine. It just makes me cross. Rant over!

Interesting that you posted about this months magazine.

I called the club earlier today asking when I could expect to receive my copy. I was informed they are sent for distribution by Royal Mail on the 24th of the month and can take 10 days to reach members. Mine is usually 14 to 21 days.

I suppose I should not really get over excited about it's imminent arrival, as like you I find the content technically or factually questionable. My gripe is the likes of a 6 berth caravan with a payload of less than 150kg, before a mover is fitted, not only being thought of as acceptable, but award winning.

The magazine cannot suit all tastes, but I'd like to see more relevant content to caravans and motorhomes. Articles on the likes of butterflies and dog basket reviews to me seem a bit off piste.

Rant over.

Currently there are postal delays, not sure it is effecting all areas but it is definitely here. I haven't received my November mag ether,I read it on line using the App. It doesn't load onto my PC. I have also been waiting for a parcel and I have been tracking it and it has sat in the local office awaiting delivery for the last 3 days.

As also members of the C&CC & the RSGB their November magazines arrived last month but the C&MC magazine always arrives sometime later and its even later this month as it has not arrived yet and by the look of it the other clubs December issues will arrive before this months C&MC mag

I received the November and October issues together last Thursday. Quite a few folk in the village say their post is usually delayed sometimes by a fortnight. Seems a bit hit and miss across the country.

Not much use if one is being sent a date for a hospital appointment!

Noticed recently that one of our credit card statements arrived the same day as the payment was due, and have had letters from our bank saying they were stopping sending out paper statements meantime due to problems.
We thought it was them having the problem, or just an excuse to move  everything on line, but maybe not.
