Letter Page - CC Magazine

I wonder if the CC respond to the many letters they receive which are NOT published.   I wrote one to them in January after receiving the magazine in which I had a concern about a CL site which was featured.    Although my letter has not been published - I would like to know the CC's thoughts on my comments.

What do you all think - I have copied my email below

I was interested to read as always the reviews of CL sites as we predominantly use them for our touring.

However, I was a little disconcerted to read the review on page 34 of the February 2013 magazine of Old Granary House in York.    Whilst the site sounds lovely, I was surprised to see that they have a retired couple Maureen and David (M&D) acting as informal wardens on the site.     Now I realise that the article does not state that M&D are residing in a caravan on the site, but it does imply that this is the case, in fact the article states that they 'are similar to site wardens' and act as 'informal wardens'.     I would like to enquire how this the case as surely this is breaking the rules of a CL, by having a unit stay for more than 28 days and surely if this is correct, then the CL is reduced to only '4' pitches on a regular basis!

One of the reasons I question this practice, is that there is another site in the Yorkshire region where this happens regularly, the 'warden' lives on site for the season and assists with the running of the site, but he isn't counted as a pitch, so there is always 6 vans on site, plus he is permanently pitched so technically living on the site, for more than 28 days at a time.  I find this unacceptable as this is a clear breach of the rules.  In fact, we don't use this site now as I find the 'warden' a little overbearing to say the least.

I would like to know the CC's opinion on this practice as they seem to condone it.    Whilst this practice is beneficial to the owners, it' not fair to the many other owners who don't have this option or stick to the rules.  It seems to me that many CL's are now flouting the rules with no redress, on a regular basis especially having more than 5 vans on.

I look forward to reading a response.
