Joining CC as a newbie

With all this talk of sites being booked up most weekends, what would it be like for a newbie who pays the fee to be a member and then finds that they cannot book onto any sites near them for a weekend?

Surely they would be very disappointed and wonder why they are paying a membership fee as most sites were booked up in December, but they only joined the CC in February the following year.

If it were us, we would cancel and ask for our membership fee to be refunded and join the other club.
