Found offline... the "Caravan Code"

On reading the Club Site rules recently I noticed (para 2) that: The Caravan Code, The Countryside Code and Club site rules are things you've already agreed to follow as a member.

But on searching online for exactly what 'The Caravan Code' was, it was nowehere to be found on the Club Website, so I asked the Enquiries Team at the Club, but they simply sent me a link to the By-Laws and the Behaviour Code..  neither of which (as far as I could tell) were 'The Caravan Code'.

I also noted that in the Overseas Booking conditions:

30. The Caravan Code
Members are required to adhere to and abide by The Caravan Code as set out in the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s UK Sites Directory and Handbook. Parents have responsibility for their children at all times unless placed in the care of a duly authorised person. Particular care should be taken on sites with lakes, swimming pools and children’s playgrounds.

So I had rooted around & eventually found my Directory & Handbook, and there it was!  Hallelujah.. Page 658..   Very sensible advice it is..

It was probably on the 'old' Club website, but got lost in the move (I know how it feels, I still have boxes in my attic that haven't been opened in the 10 years since we moved house).

Seriously though, this 'Code' should be easily available to all members, and not just in the Handbook.. In an age when the Club relies on 'digital' it should be online and easily found.  Alongside the Towing Code, Code of Behaviour, the Countryside Code and the Seashore Code..

In fact, when a Club Document (published online) refers to another club document, a Link should be created so it's easily accessible.  Sometimes this happens, but in this case it was missed..

Thank goodness for paper!  Let's hope it gets rectified.

Hi all

Rest assured we will never get rid of the Sites Directory and Handbook and yes, I was only jesting (which I've learnt is probably not best practice on CT!)

We know how important it is to a huge proportion of our Members and you are right Easy T, it's an essential part of your kit to take with you everywhere.

As you were!

Noted JVB66... I did hope the description of being lynched if we took it away may have implied a jest, but I'll know in future. wink

Helen, if the new supplement is only to come out on-line could you please ensure that all the new CLs, updates and closures are listed along with the new pricing structure for the club site, as there's sure to be a price increase for them.
