As a person who took up caravan touring five years ago when released through bereavement from an intensive role as a carer, I usually travel on my own. May I praise the Caravan Club for having a fee schedule that allows for single people, like me, as well as couples and families of all sizes? If I were to stay at a commercial site, I would usually have to pay a fee which covers the pitch, hook up etc, and two adults.  This fee is almost always considerably higher than the Caravan Club's charges for pitch and all facilities, plus one adult. So, as a member of the Caravan Club I can enjoy a wide selection of high quality sites, all over the UK, at the best possible price per night. This is important to me as a semi retired person on limited income.

Due to health challenges, as well as all the other unexpected things which suddenly happen, I find the Caravan Club's 'no deposit / book and cancel responsibly' policy very helpful, too.

this is the reason I joined the club having been a member when I was married but I am very dismayed to find that peak season prices for the summer start at the end of June as I am single on a low income ,can take holidays when I want this is going to mean I can't go away in July or August ,very very disappointed

Presumably Groovy Cleaner if there are better peak prices then you will go elsewhere. Do you find many better prices on compatable sites during these times? How about using CLs would that be cheaper?

Perhaps also look into rallies where costs are minimal and friendships are very easy to establish

The start of the Summer season starts on some sites at the beginning of July but not all. It appears to be that ones where those of us trekking South from Scotland are most likely to use but also the fact that many towns in the North of England take their holidays earlier than down South. If you check through the sites you can find lower prices in early July.

There is a thread on this somewhere.
