Another great short stay on this fabulous site. Great wardens, clean site and facilities, thank you. Great location as the market town is a short walk away. Lovely self owned shops, especially the old fashioned toy shop which is quite a maze of a place and owned by a wonderful family who celebrated their golden wedding this year as well as 50 years of ownership. ~There is a small Tesco and Co-op and slightly further away a Budgens. Even closer is the Wellington Museum well worth a visit. Lovely walk through the fields, not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs, to Batsford Arboretum, but do be aware that the meadows are grazed by both cows and sheep. Nice cafe at the arboretum, but rather crowded regardless of the of the weather - indoor and outdoor seating, erring towards the pricey side BUT proper food cooked on the premises. There are also lovely walks, despite the walks folder not containing local walks, they all require a drive to another starting point, in the area and with the assistance of an OS map it is easy to follow a circular route with little use of roads. Visiting wood fired pizza cooking is lovely and they call a couple of times a week. Fish and chips arrived on Saturday, I didn't see any publicity for this and thus we didn't try them so can't comment. Huge fully enclosed dog walk and large play area which includes goal posts and a boules pit. Lovely site, we will be back.
