Good Site, Small Pitches

This site is a short trip from several large cities and therefore a popular short break, especially at weekends. The site staff seem to have a very relaxed attitude to those wishing to stay beyond the normal midday departure time, to the extent that when the site is even moderately busy afternoon arrivals can have difficulty in finding a pitch. I certainly did, even though I arrived at 2pm on a Wednesday. This can be a real problem as the pitches are very variable, with many rather cramped and closely overhung by trees (which will put a layer of dirt and mould on your unit's roof within hours). Other problems include the sometimes unreliable TV booster system (ours was ok) and the wet sunless conditions on many of the pitches. While we were there one service point had been marked off “do not use” with no explanation. Positive points: the site is well-positioned for visiting the area and the toilets and showers were among the best-presented and cleanest I have seen, although there were some reports of cool showers. Short walk into town.
