Why do I pay VAT? The camping & caravanning club Da's do not, why because they have applied for a vat exemption under clubs & associations! Surely are our centres can do the same? Yes you might think I am stingy or tight but I have a family and rally all year round, one holiday rally this year is going to cost me £27-90 just for vat, and over the course of this caravanning season (Nov-July) I have paid in excess of £100 and times this by 6yrs amounts to quite a considerable amount. Yes I hear yourself ask what happens to the VAT we pay as centre ralliers. Well the centre collects the money & pays the vat to the vatman and then this is claimed back because the club is a non profit making organisation and this money goes back into the centre coffers, So really the centre should refund me the vat? The point I am making is that I feel I am paying out vat which can be avoided. Surely we pay enough tax. So come on caravan club let the centres apply for a vat exception then this will reduce work loads and paperwork for everyone involved plus save ralliers money.
