Hi T2, as you are from Hampshire I have copied and pasted an excerpt from one of your local centres (East Hampshire)...

Welcome to the East Hampshire Centre of the Caravan Club web site. Please take time to look through our site and see what we get up to!!

If you are interested in joining us on a rally you may book most of these events from this website. Just create an account for yourself and then, after verification, you will be able to book in on line.

Who are we?

We are one of 69 Centres that are listed in the Caravan Club Directory & Handbook. These are geographically based centres that are part of the Caravan Club. If you are a member of the Caravan Club you may join us on any Centre event and will be most welcome.

What do we do?

We organise a programme of local weekend rallies throughout the year as well as a number of holidays either in the UK or abroad. Rallies are simply a gathering of Club members in which we pursue various pastimes and sports. For example we have golf, fishing, badminton, photography, hot toddy making, cycling to name a few of the events that are arranged during the year. Socials are organised on some evenings with a disco or a live band. A dinner/dance is also held once a year.

Sites are usually informal and do not normally have toilet facilities or electric hook ups. For this reason your own sanitation is required. Water and chemical disposal points are always provided. We also have an active junior section, so children are always welcome. If you want to get more from your caravan, have a look at the rally programme and give it a try.  You can be assured of a very warm welcome. You can participate in whatever you want, if you do not wish to join in anything that is going on, then that is fine. We will still be very glad to see you. If you are new to caravanning and need some help then that will be gladly given. You possibly will learn more in one weekend than a year on your own. So go on, give it a try, you will not regret it. If you have any questions please contact us at mail@easthantscentre.org.uk

You do not have to join your local centre to join a rally, so I suggest trying a few and see if you like it, you can try different centres too. Not all centres have a youth section, it varies from centre to centre depending on how many kids they get regularly rallying. There is plenty of info on here about rallies have a browse through the sections and you can also just ask if you can't find the information you want

Alison

PS: animals are welcome too, many have dogs, we have personally rallied with dogs, hamster, guinea pigs and now our cat Laughing as long as they are not allowed to run free and are cleaned up after, no problem

If you think you might like a rally, why not give it a try.  You dont need to join any centre, any CC member can join any rally.  As said previously you can choose to take part in activities or do your own thing. Its your choice.

So go on , give a rally a try, what have you got to lose. Some come back for more, some find rallying is not for them. You wont know till you give it a try.

There is a data dump sorry list of all the rallies on the website. Sorry I can be more precise than this but as the secondclass sorry I mean associate member I can't see it.

I think if you ring up the caravan club and they will send out the list.

Or if you click on local groups in community box top right of this page,  this takes you a list of centre's which links to the individual centre websites and they have lists of rallies they are running and sometimes rallies in their area.

East Hants Centre are very welcoming particularly if they know you are new to rallying. They have a new Youth Section and dogs (and other pets) are welcome too.

Don't forget your caravan make may have an Owners' Club with rallies for all tastes all over the country. We had two very unfriendly rallies with a local centre but have rallied with our Owners Club for 20 years.

From the OP. "Any events not to be missed".....well the Bristol Balloon Fiesta Rally is a fantastic event (run by the Avon centre) I think it's full this year but it's worth trying another time. Smile
