we have never been on a rally in the U.K. .

i have been looking on here to find one in a location that interests us .

Can I go to any centre that I want ?

do I need to book?

should I phone for information ?

What can I expect are they the same as continental rally’s .?

Hi

New this year to the CMC - and lots of questions if anyone can help?

How do we find out what our local centre is planning for this year/ next year?

How do we find out about rally's elsewhere with other centres - is there a central calendar/diary somewhere?

Hi Catandbones, your local centre should have a website and they should have a list of rallies that they are running and booking details as well as other details.   What area of the county are you in?

A list of rallies is published 2018 Rallies it is well hidden and a bit of a data dump in my opinion.   This time of year is when a lot of centres are putting their 2019 programmes together so the information may not be finalised until October.

We’ve only been to a couple of local centre rallies and won’t be going again. In fairness, I don’t think they were CAMC rallies.

At one the stewards were taking backhanders from people who thought it was a campsite and giving them pitches on the car park. On another we went into the tent in the evening and someone brought round a tin of sweets and ignored us and walked straight past us twice. Very unfriendly.

Then we did you bring this up then? what relevance does your comment have to CAMC rallies ?

All CAMC rallies are run by volunteers in their own time and bring there own experience and personality.  But you can’t expect it to be as slick as the main club.

In that case.  Contact the club and we can exhange addresses and I will send you a tin of sweets at my own expense to assauge your hurt feelings.  I never been offered a back hander on any Rally I have run.   I wonder what I am doing wrong?

This unfortunately only works if you are the lead member in a family.  I am not.  If you know the name of the centre try putting it into google or you favourite search engine, they normally, in my experience come out near the top of the page.

The Rally search was so much easier when you could search area rather than date - new webpage, new ideas - bit they aren't all good!!

Personally I like to search and area and see if I can fit in with the dates, it takes a long time searching through 12 months of rallies.

With Less rallies, less rallies and less volunteers (mainly due to work and family commitments) we need to try and work together and make things easier to get more out.

Feel for the chap that wasn't offered a sweet - but sometimes you need to push yourself in as well, its not a one sided relationship.

Now over twenty years since being on a CC/CMC rally, and knowing then there was almost an obsession on placing the van to a pre set peg, we are concerned how these days using a continental van we might be treated.

What tends to be the current practice with pitching, in particular with continental caravans and motorhomes, including where an awning is to be used, thanks?

Vans have to be placed at the recommended distance apart which seems to surprise some ralliers who are not aware of the number of fires that insurance companies cover each year.  The other problem is where doors are on different sides and even more space is needed if the ralliers want their doors facing as the fire risk is even greater awning to awning compared with van to van.
