Is rallying about to increase?

We enjoyed the National, but I booked it before I was a centre member, and before I knew you could use a caravan without an orange lead.  Ok only joking about the orange lead, but I was unsure of how long a battery would last so we booked an EHU line.

The great thing is we were pitched to a very pleasant family who we have made friends with and I was chatting about rallying and how our first couple of experiances had been.

He was very interested and looked through our rally book, and thinks it may be for them.

It was funny how he told me he had been considering rallying, but didn't really know what it was about, or who to ask.  He also didn't want to look silly asking loads of questions thinking he should of known the answers anyway.  He had also been put off by a very bad experiance on a club site on his first ever outing to test the caravan when setting up, another outfit pulled up and asked if he had children, to which he replkied yes, I have my daughter, and then got the response we don't want to pitch next to you then.  So he was understandably worried if familes would be welcome.  Which of course they are.  Anyway it looks like he is going to try it out and I look forward to seeing them on the rally field.

We moved on to a follow on rally and were pitched next to a first time rallier.  They told me how they were very weary of rallies, and thinking they would have to 'join in' everything to be welcome.  As it turns out they said it was one of the best caravanning experiances they have had, and there daughter made loads of new friends and was out playing all day once she had got to know some of the other children.

If the club could get across the real side of rallying would this help increase centre membership, and make more members regular rallyers?

What is the real side of rallying?  Well it is a family friendly environment, where you can participate in as many or as few events as you like.  With no pressure to join in any activity, and if you wish, just use a rally for a base to explore an area that you may not have access to if you only use sites.  I have also seen quite a few rallies with EHU available and some on club sites, but at a fraction of the price.

I have been on three centre rallies so far and there were first time ralliers on each one.  Is this an indication that rallies are starting to become more popular?
