Turn again!

I was waiting at a roundabout the other day when (I think) a Nissan Juke approached from my right, so I waited for him. His left-hand fog lamp came on as he entered the roundabout, then it went off and his right-hand fog came on as he went around, then the left one came on again as he made his exit. All this just to go straight ahead? Confusing! How long before some impatient motorist assumes he's turning left and BANG!  It would seem new cars have their fog/spot lamps wired to the steering. I thought it was illegal to have only one white light displayed because oncoming drivers might think you're a motorcycle?  I can only see this ending in tears. I'm sure some drivers already think "mirror/signal/manoeuvre" changed years ago to "mirror (maybe) then signal as you turn. If this daft trend catches on it's only a matter of time before some drivers won't bother to signal at all.

At a roundabout, presuming two lanes on, around and possibly off, it is your positioning that should tell others whether you are turning left, in which case signal, going straight on - in which case don't signal until you have passed the left turn you don't want or going right in which case signal right turn until passing the last left before your left turn and then re signal.

Simples!
