Hi everyone,

We areplanning a trip to the Biarritz area of South West France and are planning to stay at the campsite La Pavillion Royal, right on the coast at Bidart, just below Biarritz.

Has anyone had experience of staying at this site and got any tips of places to eat and visit locally?

Thanks ,

Art.

I have spent much time down there and would recommend  Camping  Larrouleta  just south of St Jean de Luz. Lost count of the number of visits.

We used to make regular visits to La Rouletta on our way to Spain in February as it was only minutes from the motorway, but we also stayed there for longer one September. We found it ideal for visits to Biarritz area and also the Basque region of Spain even as far as Bilbao.

The campsite has a covered swimming pool which was always open in winter as well.

As others have posted the weather can be challenging but if it’s bad there it’s likely to be just the same a few miles to the north at Bidart.

Larrouleta is a campsite in the Basque. Family owned and run and proudly displays  a banner on its website "Camping without mobile homes".Very good location for a holiday  in the region but as said before weather very unreliable.

Thanks for the input, I don’t use mobile homes-we agree on the rest๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

We didn't like Larrouleta surprised drove in once had a look around at the H/S pitches and drove out again. The grass pitches were all closed.

We much prefer the sites at Erromardie, we have used 2 out of the 3 there and would do so again in a heart beat.

Right on the beach, a good restaurant and bar on the beach road. Cycle into St Jean de Luz.
