Lovely quiet site in a beautiful area

Aberbran Club Campsite
We stayed at Aberbran for a week at the end of May 2024. It's a small, quiet site, which used to be a railway station until closure in the 1960s. As a result, it's long and thin, which can make manoeuvring at the top end a challenge for long outfits. The wardens were really friendly and there's plenty of information on things to do in the area. There's a nice walk into Brecon across the fields, but it's very badly signed and, after taking a wrong turn and wading through very deep cow muck, we were rewarded with a lecture on closing gates from a VERY grumpy farmer (we HAD closed all the gates...) It gave us something to chuckle about for the rest of the week though. Brecon itself is a lovely town with a very impressive cathedral, and plenty of shops, eating places and cafes. We'd recommend climbing Pen Y Fan (the easiest route is from Pont ar Daf car park on the A470). There aren't any pubs within easy walking distance, but for meals we'd definitely recommend the Tai'r Bull Inn, Libanus and the wonderful Shoemakers Arms, Pentre-bach, both just a short drive from the site. This is a lovely area for walking and scenery, particularly if the weather is good!

A little oasis of oeace

Aberbran Club Campsite
Stopped here on route from Risca, South Wales to Pembrey 10/04/24 - as self contained motorhome we were content that there are no toilets or showers and this is reflected adequately in the price. Remarkably, according to the (wonderful volunteer wardens) some still turn up apparently knowing there are none. The site is immaculately kept with a bright feeling. The air is full of amazing bird song and the skies are dark - a beautiful spot in the Brecons, handy to access the local area and attractions with a plethora within an hour's drive. As a 7.5M motorhome towing a car, we were at the limit for the pitches on site and the access along a narrow road off the A40. We will go again!

One of our favourites

Aberbran Club Campsite
This site is an absolute gem. There are no showers or loos, and it is kept beautifully clean and tidy with flowers and plants all around. The wardens are fabulous—friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. They are always ready with a wave and genuinely interested in your day. The location is great, with walks available directly from the site. The nearest town, Brecon, is just a short drive away. Great for outdoor activities, exploring the Brecon Beacons, and wonderful for peace and quiet.

Perfect No frills site

Aberbran Club Campsite
Absolutely love this site. Thoroughly recommend it. Stayed for 7 nights. Easy to find from the main road, just follow the directions in the book and you can't go wrong. It's a small place on the site of the old Aberbran Railway station, so the site is long and thin but plenty of space between pitches. There's a good dog walk on site with great views. We found the volunteer wardens to be very friendly and also very helpful with advice on where to go. They even have folders of walks and drives to do. We had a grass pitch but if you want hardstanding, that's at the end of the site. 5-8 or 2&3 near the check in hut. The Brecon Beacons is a great area for walking or waterfall searching. We climbed Pen y Fan whilst there. Well worth the long hike to the top as the views are spectacular. Brecon town is nice too, Good butchers and places to eat. Morrisons supermarket is the cheapest place to park £1.50 for 2hrs. Aldi is near the canal Basin free parking for 1½hrs. Nice 2½ hour trip on a barge along the canal for £12. So much to do in the area we'll have to go back. This site is a perfect no frills site without a toilet block. We really need more of these type of sites as for £21 Inc EHU they really are much better value than the full facility sites that's for sure 5* from us that's for sure.
