With its swimming pool, tennis court, crazy golf and ball game area, there's more than enough to keep the family happy at the Looe Club Campsite. Two pitching areas divided by conifers and flowering cherries, plus distant views of Looe Bay give the park its attractive appeal.

The nearby town of Looe boasts many fine restaurants such as The Coddy Shack, a local fish and chip shop and other places of interest - watch the catch come ashore at the working fishing harbour, take the children crabbing in the Hannafore Rock Pools or take in the marvellous view of Looe Island. The town also hosts an annual music festival, held just a few minutes away from the site. For the walkers in the family, Looe Club Campsite provides easy access to the beautiful Cornwall Coastal Path, which runs right around the peninsula and across the border into Devon. The sheltered cove of Millendreath offers rock pools to explore and is a short walk from the site. Nearby, the largest indoor rainforest in the world, the Eden Project, is a fabulous day out for all ages. From water fun to scenic views, the campsite has options to keep the whole family happy.

Very unhappy

Looe Club Campsite
We arrived at the site in good time, I’m a disabled caravaner I asked prior to arriving for a pitch near the facilities. When we got there I was put on a pitch approximately 2/3hundreds yards away from the water point and to visits the facilities was up a flight of stones stairs then a walk to the bathrooms. In the morning I spoke with the wardens and asked to Move on to a grass pitch adjacent to the facilities. They said I was to big to get on the pitch I measured the pitch and I could have fitted on the one I selected. Then one of the wardens came down and offer me a pitch which was 50 yards from the water point but 300 years from the facilities I was not best pleased and couldn’t understand why they were being so obtuse. We decided to move to another site we will never book this site again.

Pricey and needs maintenance

Looe Club Campsite
Overall site to CAMC standard, pitches tidy and wash facilities clean. OCD on you must not arrive before 13:00 even got an early morning call on the day to remind us of the fact 😀. When we booked it was advertised with swimming pool and children's play areas which is where we get to the disappointed bit, the swimming pool was well maintained and warm no problem there, however the rest of the children's play areas were very shoddy and in disrepair. The Pitch and Putt was unusable along with the basketball court no backboard on the one, and on the other half of the backboard snapped off. If as much attention was put into all of the facilities on site and not just having someone hovering at you arrival, telling you to park in the obvious white lines and 'dont forget your membershio card' lecture plus the 'you must not arrive before 13:00' overkill, it would have been rated alot higher, especially as this is the most expensive site per night of our 4 week tour of Cornwall..

Nice large site with a few niggles

Looe Club Campsite
Nice site with a few niggles, The main one is the tiering on the hardstanding section encourages people to walk across your pitch to get to facilities as sloping and gaps in the fence on all pitches. Also, wi-fi is very poor in this section and the O2 phone coverage is also poor. Otherwise a good site and reception as a well-stocked shop with friendly staff.

Lovely Pool

Looe Club Campsite
We usually go to CL sites as we prefer the relaxed atmosphere. On arriving 8 minutes early we were greeted by the warden reminding us we were early, no arrivals before 1 pm which MUST be adhered to and also stating two wardens were on lunch! He told us to pull up to the barrier and wait. We were the first! Within minutes three other outfits arrived. Did they get the same warm welcome? How disappointing to receive such a welcome after a long drive and looking forward to our holiday. Surely this was not really necessary but he obviously felt the need to vent. We had travelled for 10 hours and the traffic had been good so we’re 8 minutes early! This is what puts me off coming to Club sites, wardens who love to lecture about the rules 🤦‍♀️ Lovely pool, nice clean toilet blocks and reasonable price with 20% off offer. Sadly too many dog owners letting their dogs bark meant it wasn’t as quiet as we would have liked but I suppose that’s the downside of large club sites.

Happily unchanged in 12 years

Looe Club Campsite
We last visited this site 12 years ago and were pleased to find that it is still a lovely place to stay. The site is well maintained by friendly and helpful wardens who, unusually in our experience, provided all day access to the shop, which is well stocked. The local sausages are delicious. The Town is largely unchanged and still picturesque since our last visit with numerous small shops but does lack a quality food shop. Morrisons at Liskeard is about 30 minutes drive away if a more varied shop is required. Talland bay to the west and Seaton to the east are unspoilt and have lovely beaches, both with cafes. Polperro and Charlestown, which was used for some of he dockland locations in the Poldark series, are worth a visit, although now are over commercialised. It was pleasing to see that crabbing from both the harbour wall and at the lagoon in Looe is a happy pastime for children and brought back happy memories of our daughter's joy at a successful catch.
