Kent is the ideal location to relax and discover the great outdoors. The 350 miles of Kentish coastline boast the world-famous White Cliffs of Dover as well as plenty of vast sandy beaches, making it the ideal holiday destination. Head towards the Northern coast to explore the Isle of Sheppey, a great adventure destination for everyone including families, and home to the Elmley National Nature Reserve and nature trails. Alternatively, visit Whitstable to discover the charming coastal town with its colourful cottages and harbourside fish market. Our Bearsted Club Campsite provides a good base to explore destinations such as Maidstone and is also within walking distance from the 900 year old Leeds Castle. For a relaxing break, Champney’s Eastwell Manor and Brandshatch Place Hotel & Spa are both a short drive away, or try the spa at Hythe Imperial which is even closer to our Daleacres Club Campsite.
Kent is known as the Garden of England for its fantastic produce, and no visit should be without a trip to one of Kent’s vineyards and breweries. The landscape is so well suited to sparkling wine produced with the Champagne method that Taittinger even bought land in Kent, known as Domaine St-Evremond, and England’s leading winemaker Chapel Down offers Cheese and Wine tours with local cheeses for a true taste of the county.
Set in a landscape of rolling hills and wooded valleys, Kent offers plenty of famous attractions, history and architecture. The spectacular Canterbury Cathedral (a world heritage site) can be found in the county, as well as the picturesque Hever Castle and Gardens, the childhood home of King Henry VIII's wife Anne Boleyn. Both attractions offer tourers the chance to visit places steeped in English history, with many more dotted throughout the county.
The south coast of Kent has many great attractions, from Dover Castle and the Secret Wartime Tunnels to the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, which starts close to our Daleacres Club Campsite and runs to Romney Marsh, perfect for visiting Dungeness Beach, the UK’s only desert, which is popular for fishing where the warm water flows out of the power station. Visit Prospect Cottage with its driftwood garden, former home and creative space of punk artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman. Port Lympne Safari Park is also close and you can sometimes even see some of the animals from the campsite. If you prefer a sandy beach, our Black Horse Farm Club Campsite is convenient for Folkestone’s popular sandy beach near Folkestone Harbour and a visit to the independent food drink and retail businesses on Folkestone Harbour arm.
