Things to do when Camping in South East England

South East England offers beautiful coastlines, forests and of course the stunning South Downs and the North Downs to explore. Whether you prefer walking, hiking or cycling there are many places to see. Explore the  trails through Friston Forest and out onto Seven Sisters Country Park and down to Cuckmere Haven. Further along the coast you can explore the pebble beach at Birling Gap when the tide is out. This beach is accessible only by steps. Feel the fresh air as you walk along the cliff paths towards Beachy Head,with part of the route heading inland into the South Downs. 

Soak up some history with the fantastic castles of the south east including Leeds Castle in Broomfield, Maidstone, where you can enjoy the wonderful castle and its gardens including the maze, wildlife and adventure park. Another very impressive castle and grounds is Arundel Castle which has a number of great events throughout the year.  

If you are looking for a day out at a theme park the two main ones in the south east are  Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures. There are also plenty of indoor and outdoor activities in Brighton and London if you want to explore the cities, along with wildlife parks and seaside towns to enjoy a great day out. If you are looking to go further west to the New Forest why not visit the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu or enjoy a family day out discovering the delights of  The New Forest itself. 

Due to the climate and soil type, the south east is known as the wine capital of the UK. Taste the wines of Surrey or tour the vineyards of Sussex. With over a hundred vineyards throughout the south east there are plenty of opportunities to soak up some English wine.
