Nestled within an attractive pine plantation, Carsington Water Club Campsite in Ashbourne is beautifully landscaped, with pitches in open clearings separated by trees. This gives the Derbyshire campsite residents privacy and quiet which many appreciate during the busy summer months. Improvements to the toilet block and facilities, including a new drying room, were undertaken in recent years.

Carsington Reservoir, a major attraction in the area, is conveniently adjacent to the Carsington Water Club Campsite. A mere 15 minutes walk will bring you to its great selection of leisure facilities including fishing, sailing, windsurfing and a children's playground. The campsite is also an excellent base for walkers and cyclists wishing to explore the beautiful scenery of Dovedale and the surrounding countryside. The local villages, all with excellent pubs and restaurants offering hearty food, are within two to three miles. As you travel around the region exploring, look out for examples of Derbyshire's home grown art - "Well Dressing" - which happens in many villages from May to September.

Good but steep

Carsington Water Club Campsite
Another nice site. Very well spaced out but quite steep and goes on for ever. Facilities are very clean and the wardens are lovely and friendly. Well worth a visit.

Lovely weekend away

Carsington Water Club Campsite
Having watched a good few videos of fellow caravaners to carsington CAMC, we decided to have a short weekend away there, what a beautiful quiet site it is, the scenery is stunning, with walks round the reservoir and site. Can highly recommended the site, the staff were very polite and friendly too, all in all 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Site some Odd Things to Review

Carsington Water Club Campsite
We stayed here for 4 nights and had a very nice stay. The site is very well maintained and has really flat large pitches, no issues at all. The walk to Carsington water is easy to find (but strangely not on the map?) and not too far, you can walk around the lake if you want to and there are a couple of pubs that can be visited! Strange that not like Grafham water there is only 1 or 2 points where you can access the water, which is a shame if you are walking dogs as they like to dip in the water to cool down, but Carsington restricts access massively..... The site is clean and well maintained and we would have no issue using again. However there are a couple of things that really irritate me about club sites in general 1) Wi-Fi what is this nonsense of an hour free which you have to keep logging into and is at 1 MPS speed? , we use lots of private sites and wi-fi is included and it makes life much easier , you should not have to pay for Wi-Fi these days...... 2) Cleaning times, why shut the facilities at probably the most popular times? the mens are shut from 10-11........., if you have to shut them (most decent private sites dont shut them at all!) them make it 3 or 4 in the afternoon! Food on site was really good, there were burgers, fish & chips and pizza , all were good quality and not over priced. we would come here again but would be much better if they sorted out those issues!!

Fab site with great connections for visits to towns across the Peak District

Carsington Water Club Campsite
We stayed here for 6 nights in August. The site staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities are excellent and are kept spotlessly clean. Internet can be slow at times, but nothing that is horrendous. The site is close to Carsington Water which is great for either biking or walking and easily accessible from the site - routes are clearly signposted. The location is a great base to visit many of the key Peak District towns. Highly recommended is Haddon Hall where CAMC members can get a discount on entry. We have stayed at this site twice now - different pitches and both great. We would have no hesitation to recommend and will definitely be returning again.

Beautiful site, spoilt only by a few inconsiderate people.

Carsington Water Club Campsite
We stayed here for 2 nights on our way home from a Scotland tour. The Site staff were very friendly and the site was really pretty, clean and tidy. Good to have the bins still on the service areas. The walk to, and around Carsington Water reservoir is nice and easy, and also makes a great bike ride. Not only do you have the 8 miles of walk around the reservoir, but there is also an excellent dog walk, all around the perimeter of the site, through the woodlands… but still, some people think that it is ok to exercise their dogs on other peoples pitches..and allow them to roam off lead. The site is so beautiful and most areas are really peaceful. You expect to hear the children playing on the play areas, and to hear dogs barking when they are happy to see someone to make a fuss of them, but I don't think that having to listen to someone watching their TV outside, under a canopy, until 11 pm is acceptable. I believe that the metered electric would be a good idea now on site's as we witnessed people sitting outside wrapped in electric heated blankets, etc. It isn't really fair for everybody to be paying the same anymore, with all of the gadgets etc that some people use. Having said all of this, this is a site that we would definitely use again, we were just unlucky to be in the same spot as an inconsiderate couple.
