Wrexham County Borough is located in Wales and is centred around the county town of Wrexham. It is adjacent to Cheshire, Shropshire, Flintshire and Denbighshire and has strong links with past coal mining.
Much of the county is rural countryside and this is therefore a great place to head to if you enjoy outdoor pursuits and getting plenty of fresh air, with the Ruabon mountains acting as a beautifully scenic backdrop.
However, there is also lots to keep visitors occupied during bad weather. A host of shops, bars, restaurants and indoor activities are within easy reach for all the family, many of which offer local Welsh produce for you to try.
Highlights in the county include Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Chirk Castle, Erddig garden and park, Alyn Waters and Ty Mawr Country Park.
There's also Wrexham County Borough Museum, Techniquest Glyndwr for the kids and Plassey Craft and Retail Village if you fancy a spot of shopping for souvenirs.
