Why stay here ...

Trecastell Farm CL is a secluded site set on a small working farm. Easy access to the M4 (juntions 34 and 35) makes this an ideal stopping point for West Wales and the Irish ferries. It is a convenient location to explore the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, South Wales Valleys, Brecon Beacons and the market town of Cowbridge. The capital city of Wales, Cardiff, is a 12 minute train ride from nearby Pontyclun station. Wales' most visited tourist attraction, Saint Fagan's museum, is a 20 minute drive away.

The pitches are grassed and flat with stunning views. There are no additional charges for electricity, awnings, cars, children or pets. Water is available on site with the disposal point within 50 meters. There is good television reception. The only rule is that you enjoy yourself and respect fellow caravaners.

2 pubs within a mile serve meals and real ale. Within 3 miles, there is a wide variety of restaurants and shops, from a 24 hour superstore to local independent stores.

We have many regular visitors who compliment us on the peaceful, clean and convenient site. We hope that once you have stayed you too will wish to return.

A nice site at a great price

Trecastle Farm
The site is easy to find if you follow the instructions for arriving on the website, (the owner told me this when I booked with him.) (If you follow sat nav and don’t come over the level crossing, then be aware that you might miss the turning as there is only a sign facing one way at the moment. Plus, it’s a very narrow road!) but following the instructions is very easy! The grass in the field was a little long, but absolutely fine. The facilities were easy to find and use, and the views stunning. For a one night stop over it’s a great site and brilliant value. It’s not abundantly clear on the page, but the £12.50 price includes EHU.

How is this a CL Site????

Trecastle Farm
Whilst enroute to our holiday inTenby we stopped over at Trecastle Farm listed as a CL site, we joined the Caravan and Motorhome Club so that we could stay here to meet up with a close friend and assumed it would have to meet a standard. We drove passed the site entrance due to lack of signage ending up down a very narrow lane with poorly trimmed bushes and trees each side resulting in all 6 side windows being badly scratched then we asked someone where the site was and had to go back up the lane resulting in more damage. Unbelievably we still couldn't find the site enterance and had to ask someone else, we eventually saw a caravan through an enterance into a field and this was the enterance with no sign. I raised the lack of signage with the owner/manager who informed us a tractor had knocked the sign off but when I asked why a temporary sign wasn't used he didn't give an answer. After assessing the damage to the 6 side windows we looked around the site in dismay the facilities are shocking. The EHU we used was in a small brick enclosure with a large crack in the roof allowing water ingress to the circuit breaker board on which the breaker cover is missing. The disposal facilities consisted of a few domestic bins. How have the Caravan and Motorhome Club certified this site, we can't believe we paid £56 to join so that we could stay here to meet up with a close friend and it's resulted in our campervan being damaged. We trusted The Caravan and Motorhome Club and boy have they let us down and ruined our holiday, all I want to do now is get home to see what can be done about the damage...🤬

Could be lovely

Trecastle Farm
The person taking the bookings on telephone is not owner/managing site any longer. The photos currently uploaded do not look the same either. The Chap on the phone was lovely, we did not meet the site owner/managers but were warned they were busy during lambing season.. Very poorly signed, the signs navigate people to the trecastle equestrian centre, which is through the camp field, but also advise no parking (in the camp field). The site was full of dog poo, and the grass was quite long in places, I went around collecting it, as did not feel comfortable collecting water etc in flipflops. Realised one of the farm's dogs (cute black terrier) was popping into the field and pooping by our camp event day! Grass being long, the ground was also very uneven and we broke one of our levellers. The view is not particularly tranquil or attractive as the field adjacent is now open grounds to a newly built equestrian centre. People crossing through the camp field but also floodlights and such. The field doesn't feel very private. My husband said the chemical emptying facility was the worst he had even used, it relies on a gravity system but it didn't drain properly, so there was always faeces or toilet tissue you on top , also the water was very low pressure and there was no hose to rinse the cartridge, having to hold the cartridge up to the tap, was difficult to get it cleaned hygienicly. There was wild garlic growing which was wonderful to forage, it was quiet mostly but feel site is now an afterthought for the current (new) owners and the previous reviews aren't reflective of current situation. Was good value for money for basic facilities, which is fine, but the site was a disappointment.

Perfectly peaceful

Trecastle Farm
Small yet perfect! We stopped here for two nights whilst visiting family. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The site is basic with hookup and water, a small field with great views. Amazing value for money! We will most definitely be returning 😁 Thank you for a perfectly peaceful weekend
