Why stay here ...

Fferm Cae Du is the nearest CL site to Abersoch, situated only a five to ten minute walk from the village. The site overlooks the mesmerising scenery of Eryri (Snowdonia), Cardigan Bay and one of the St. Tudwal’s Islands. Nothing quite beats watching the magnificent sunrise from your bed!

Our site provides a liberating sense of space and tranquillity, an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

As a family we have welcomed caravanners and motorhome owners to Fferm Cae Du since 1961, with many returning year on year. The two and half acre site has recently been upgraded, ensuring that there are more level grass pitches and we have added water taps near every electrical hook-up, ensuring easy access to water.

The many amenities and attractions of Abersoch are on your doorstep. Whether you are looking for a bite to eat at one of the local cafes or restaurants, browsing the shops or visiting one of the many sandy beaches, everything is only a stone throw away from our site. Other nearby beaches include Porth Ceiriad, Porth Neigwl and Llanbedrog beach, each with its own unique character and charm and close to the Welsh Coastal Path and many public footpaths. There are several cycling opportunities locally, some undulating, including Lôn Las 42 Llŷn Circular Cycle Route.

In the heart of Abersoch you have the beautiful harbour, which is ideal for catching crab, an 18 hole golf course, fishing and boating trips to see the wildlife, which includes seals and dolphins as well as access to an array of other water sports.

You also have a bus service to the market town of Pwllheli and a flexi bus that covers the Llŷn Peninsula.

At Fferm Cae Du, we are always happy to share our local knowledge with you and answer any questions you may have about the area or when seeking recommendations about the best places to visit, eat or explore. Our site is a good base whether you wish to relax & soak up the panoramic views without moving from it, or if you like sea and sand, coastal or hilltop walks, or exploring the history, culture, geography and cuisine of the area.

Absolute gem.

Fferm Cae Du
What an absolute gem of a CL. To me, this is everything a CL should be. However not everyone may see it that way, but we take things as they come toward us. We stayed for six nights in June 24. Weather wasn't brilliant and we learnt that the site was a tad exposed on top of the hill with nothing but the Irish Sea behind us, so if you have issues with a bit of draught, maybe not for you. For me that is the only thing that I could be negative about, but it is what it is. However what that height does, is give you one of the best views in North Wales. A panoramic view from Snowdon to the left to Harlech and Shell Island to the right. You can sit on a Saturday afternoon and watch the yacht races from the yacht club to Pwllheli with an almost uninterrupted view. Its a 10min walk to Abersoch Beach, which is only dog friendly on the southern end, but its 15mins to the Warren beach which is completely dog friendly. Most places in the village, which is again, only 10mins walk away, are dog friendly. Site facilities are more than adequate and appear to have been recently updated with a great little shower cabin and everything seems to be really well maintained without being over the top or intrusive. This is now our Abersoch go to site. Just hope it doesn't become too popular

All a CL should be

Fferm Cae Du
Quiet, well laid out site, access road narrow but straight forward to enter and pitch to ensure a good view on level grass with plenty of space between each van. Multiple water points, clean area for chemical and household waste and added bonus of a small toilet block. Most importantly of course, an owner who is helpful and easy to contact.

Windswept but what a view!

Fferm Cae Du
Don’t trust the reviews of a year or so ago. This site has received serious investment. The WC is clean and tidy. The chemical waste disposal is brand new and fit for purpose. The water supply is easy to fit a hose to. The bins are easy to access. There are 6 EHU points. The access is narrow but the hedging appeared to have been well cut back and no problem for our campervan or our friend’s caravan. There is a gravel track to the top of the site but there are no hard standings as such, which shouldn’t be a problem because it is at the top of a hill. The two flattest pitches are at the top of the hill, furthest from the facilities which are at the lowest point. It’s a bit of a pull with a 40 litre roll tank up the hill but Fitbit and Apple Watch wearers will delight in the knowledge this will add to their ‘exercise minutes’. It is exposed and when the wind blows, as it did for us, you will notice, particularly if from the East. We were there in March and it was cold as well. Brrrrr! Having said all that, the scenery is spectacular and well worth the effort. We loved our stay. By the way, an area of scrubland at the top (flat) part of the site has been cleared and seeded for grass so there will be more flat pitch options in the future.

Good short stay

Fferm Cae Du
Not a bad short stay site with an easy 5 minute walk into Abersoch which is a quaint little sea side town with a few decent bars and restaurants - certainly worth a visit. The views from the top of the site were good stretching out to the sea in the far distance. My only gripe is that the site was over looked by a circle of houses so did not feel particularly tranquil. I also thought the water refill arrangement for a motorhome were not great. The owner was lovely and welcoming so no problems on that front. Overall, not bad and certainly good enough to use as a base for Abersoch and surrounds.
