The town of St Clears in Carmarthenshire, Wales sits on the River Taf and has plenty of history. It is thought that a castle was built on the site in the 11th century and the mound where it sat can still be seen to this day.
With views of the beautiful rolling countryside and a welcoming community feel, St Clears is a good snapshot of south-west Wales. Many of its residents speak Welsh as their first language.
One of the first telescopes in Britain was set up at Trefenty House, which was the home of the Perrot family for several generations from the 16th century.
