The town of Pitlochry is situated in the Scottish county of Perthshire and is hugely popular as a tourist resort thanks to its beautiful scenery and clean highland air.
Its proximity to the mountains of Ben Vrackie and Schiehallion make it ideal for walkers and there are a range of other routes available if you like the great outdoors.
Pitlochry has some excellent places to eat, whether you want steak for an evening meal or a quick sandwich in a cafe at lunchtime and there are lots of independent shops at which to stock up on supplies or gifts.
Other highlights in and around town include the Blair Atholl Museum, Pitlochry & Moulin Heritage Centre and the Melt Gallery for local handicrafts including clanwear.
If you enjoy a tipple, you also shouldn't miss visiting one of the two distilleries in the vicinity - Edradour and Blair Athol - to sample and buy locally brewed Scotch.
