Kirkbean Certificated Locations
The small village of Kirkbean is located near the Solway Firth in the Dumfries and Galloway part of Scotland. It's easy to miss, so ensure you look out for the minor road signposted 'Carsethorn' as you head there on your holidays - the main road will only take you to a small part of the village.
Once you've arrived, you'll really be able to relax and get away from it all. There are local beaches and a merse, which is an alluvial area where many seabirds arrive to over-winter.
Close by is also the National Nature Reserve and Carsethorn foreshore, as well as Southwick and Mersehead nature reserves for spotting wildlife. This makes the area a great place for walking and cycling breaks.
Kirkbean boasts a beautiful church and a host of pretty cottages to wander past. Don't miss the monuments to John Paul Jones either, as he hailed from near Kirkbean and became one of the founders of the US Navy. There's a museum dedicated to him in Arbigland.
Finally, you can also head up Criffel if you're feeling up for a challenge, as it rises 1,870 feet to the north of the village.
