Located within the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland, the town of Dumfries lies on the edge of the Solway Firth and is nicknamed Queen of the South.
Its scenery boasts everything from sandy coastline and inland forests to rolling hills, making this the ideal place to get away from it all in a rural location.
Walkers and cyclists will be able to spot wildlife including deer, red squirrels, kite and wildcats as they wander around - and there are opportunities for yachting and windsurfing for the more energetic.
Within the town, attractions include Dumfries Museum and the Aviation Museum, as well as the Theatre Royal, which is the oldest working theatre in Scotland.
A little further afield, there's Sweetheart Abbey, Drumlanrig Castle and Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park to explore.
You'll also find that Dumfries has a wide range of shops and restaurants to suit your every need during your break.
