Why stay here ...

Firbank Park is located in beautiful Royal Deeside within the Cairngorms National Park. This is the place to come if you love nature, peace and quiet. The hardstanding pitches are nestled amongst mature Douglas Fir, Scotch Pine and Oak trees and are generously spaced out within the 5 acre site. Each pitch offers an electric hook up and your own fresh water source.

There is an abundance of wonderful walks, cycle tracks, Munros (mountains at least 3000ft high) to climb all right on your doorstep. Cycle hire is available locally. The River Dee is less than 50m to the North and fishing and horse riding is available on the local Glen Tanar Estate. Or if you want to simply relax Firbank is a beautiful place just to be and to soak up the natural beauty and tranquillity of the area.

Dinnet Oakwood, one of the oldest Oak woods in Scotland, runs behind the site. You will share your visit with the local wildlife including Red Squirrel, Roe Deer, Pine Martins, Badgers, Kite and Buzzards all of which can be spotted on a regular basis. For this reason, we ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times when within the site.

The Boat Inn is a 10 minute drive away in Aboyne where you can enjoy a drink in their bar. They also offer excellent pub grub and dogs are very welcome. In the village of Dinnet, just 10 minutes walk away, you will find bus stops heading East and West with services connecting you to the local villages and as far as Aberdeen City.

The villages of Ballater, to the West, and Aboyne, to the East, are both 10 minutes drive away by car or bus. Both have a reasonably sized supermarket, chemist, doctor, cafes, shops, restaurants and takeaways. When in Ballater you will see many of the shops which have been awarded the Royal Warrant recognising their service to The Royal Family. One of our favourite haunts is Shorty’s Ice Cream Parlour in Ballater where all the ice creams are made on site and are delicious!

Balmoral Castle is only a 20 minute drive away and when out and about you may be lucky enough to see a member of the Royal Family who regularly walk around Ballater and the surrounding area. If you see someone you think looks like a Royal then it probably will be!

Braemar (home of the world famous Braemar Gathering) is a 30 minute drive and is well worth a visit with some quaint little shops and eateries. The newly renovated Fife Arms Hotel is very interesting and hosts some very unique and expensive artwork including a wax model of Queen Victoria and a real Picasso! Making it an ideal excuse for a bite to eat, a coffee or a wee dram.

Archie and Justine would love to share this beautiful part of Royal Deeside with you and will be available if you need any further information or help during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you.

Best Certified Location we have ever used

Firbank Park
Been using CLs since 2016. Stayed in early June 2024. Weather fine, sunny, but chilly. Justine was very efficient after booking - no vague instructions and lack of interest in us. This is a wonderful spot for a peaceful holiday in superb surroundings, on our first venture from Lancashire to this part of Scotland. We have a very active Springer Spaniel, who wants to give the site ten stars! . This is a lovely, well maintained site with a vast area of mown grass in a lovely setting, with well spaced pitches, good access and thoughtful touches provided by the owners, who are quietly procactive throughout your stay to make sure all is well. The River Dee is 200 metres away, complete with a 'calendar page' type view from the nearby bridge. We saw red squirrels, heard a cuckoo several times, and enjoyed watching deer and numerous other wildlife on our various trips out through breathtaking scenery. The site allows easy access to a myriad of superb spots for walking, sightseeing and relaxing. The whole area is clean and well looked after - Ballater and Aboyne enjoy a full range of decent independent shops and cafes etc for all tastes. The big garden centre at Banchory is amazing (and has a good restaurant!), and Morrisons and Tesco are nearby (off A93 at Banchory) for fuel and shopping. Talking of fuel - diesel was several pence cheaper up there than at home! The site was suggested by friends who stayed here last year and having seen their photos, we booked it. I am not one to leave reviews, but this site deserves one for being so good! Thank you from Robert, Cheryl and Ted (the dog who had to go home for a rest!) Now for the bad news - we will be back!

Firbank Park
What more can we say. Our second visit to Fairbank park C.L. why? because we love everything about this little corner of heaven. If you have a caravan or motorhome, this wonderful site is one not to be missed. Do yourself a big favour, if you are looking for somewhere to stay when you visit this very beautiful part of Scotland try Fairbank Park, Aboyne, you will not regret it. Everything you could wish for, plus very friendly owners, who make your stay very special. Thank you both.

Great site but ---?

Firbank Park
Having stayed here in glorious May weather I agree with the previous comments regarding the wonderful location. Great walks for the dogs directly from the site. Not sure if I like the idea of paying up front, apart from a deposit. In my opinion it seems a little bit too efficient.and professional. I expect it on a commercial site but seems rather ott on a CL. . If it is to win CL of the year, however, I do think a couple of issues should be mentioned. The hardstandings are surfaced with a very fine gravel which treads in to the caravan as does the grass as it is not collected after cutting. I don't expect the whole 5 acres to be collected but it would be helpful just around the pitches. Although the area is very peaceful, there is quite a lot of road noise from the logging trucks travelling back and forth to the nearby sawmill. Not a problem at night but can be noticeable if you are sitting out on site.

An excellent CL for exploring this beautiful area

Firbank Park
We booked Firbank CL on the basis of the previous glowing reviews, and we were not disappointed. The communication before we arrived was excellent and we had a warm welcome from Justine who gave us lots of advice on what to do in the area. The site is lovely, very spacious and surrounded by mature trees with lots of birds flying around. Each pitch has an electric hook up and water supply, with plenty of space between each pitch. The toilet is set is a little building towards one end of the field and is kept really clean. The CL is set in an excellent location for exploring Royal Deeside and we enjoyed trips to Loch Muick, Balmoral Castle and Ballater. Our dog enjoyed the beautiful local walks around the Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve and Glen Tanar. There are also excellent off-road cycling options directly from the site, along the Deeside way and in Glen Tanar, we cycled a new route every day we were there. Aboyne is a 30 minute cycle or a 10 minute drive away and has some lovely cafes (including Spider on a Bicycle and the Black Faced Sheep), a well-stocked Co-Op and a good pub (The Boat Inn). This is a lovely CL in an excellent location and Justine and Archie work hard to maintain the site, we highly recommend a visit and will definitely return.
