Why stay here ...

Firbank Park is an adult only CL located in beautiful Royal Deeside within the Cairngorms National Park. This is the place to come if you love nature, peace and quiet. The hardstanding pitches are nestled amongst mature Douglas Fir, Scotch Pine and Oak trees and are generously spaced out within the 5 acre site. Each pitch offers an electric hook up and your own fresh water source.

There is an abundance of wonderful walks, cycle tracks, Munros (mountains at least 3000ft high) to climb all right on your doorstep. Cycle hire is available locally. The River Dee is less than 50m to the North and fishing and horse riding is available on the local Glen Tanar Estate. Or if you want to simply relax Firbank is a beautiful place just to be and to soak up the natural beauty and tranquillity of the area.

Dinnet Oakwood, one of the oldest Oak woods in Scotland, runs behind the site. You will share your visit with the local wildlife including Red Squirrel, Roe Deer, Pine Martins, Badgers, Kite and Buzzards all of which can be spotted on a regular basis. For this reason, we ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times when within the site.

The Boat Inn is a 10 minute drive away in Aboyne where you can enjoy a drink in their bar. They also offer excellent pub grub and dogs are very welcome. In the village of Dinnet, just 10 minutes walk away, you will find bus stops heading East and West with services connecting you to the local villages and as far as Aberdeen City.

The villages of Ballater, to the West, and Aboyne, to the East, are both 10 minutes drive away by car or bus. Both have a reasonably sized supermarket, chemist, doctor, cafes, shops, restaurants and takeaways. When in Ballater you will see many of the shops which have been awarded the Royal Warrant recognising their service to The Royal Family. One of our favourite haunts is Shorty’s Ice Cream Parlour in Ballater where all the ice creams are made on site and are delicious!

Balmoral Castle is only a 20 minute drive away and when out and about you may be lucky enough to see a member of the Royal Family who regularly walk around Ballater and the surrounding area. If you see someone you think looks like a Royal then it probably will be!

Braemar (home of the world famous Braemar Gathering) is a 30 minute drive and is well worth a visit with some quaint little shops and eateries. The newly renovated Fife Arms Hotel is very interesting and hosts some very unique and expensive artwork including a wax model of Queen Victoria and a real Picasso! Making it an ideal excuse for a bite to eat, a coffee or a wee dram.

Archie and Justine would love to share this beautiful part of Royal Deeside with you and will be available if you need any further information or help during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you.
