Idyllic

Rooley Farm
We’ve been trying to visit Calderdale since before Covid struck, and luckily for us, the first choice of CL was booked. Fate definitely played us a blinder. Rooley’s Farm is an absolute gem. I won’t lie, the road leading to the CL is narrow in places but that adds to the charm. The welcome folder is full of everything you ever needed to know, and a bit more. The views are breathtaking and for twitchers like us, a dream! You can walk easily into Sowerby village, and it’s not much further to Sowerby Bridge where you can find shops, supermarkets, restaurants and takeaways, and some smashing pubs. The Hog’s Head on the wharf is brilliant for real ale lovers. Each pitch on the site has their own EHU, tap and a very neat and tidy drain! Recycling is very good, in fact I’ve emailed my local council demanding to know why we don’t recycle like Calderdale! We were lucky to see The Flying Scotsman at Haworth whilst in the area. There is so much to see and do, we’re definitely returning. And here’s the CL network’s best kept secret. It only costs £16 a night!!! What are you waiting for? Book now!

Lovely CL

Rooley Farm
A very well-maintained and set out CL in a lovely location. We received a very friendly welcome and a massive information folder. The access is slightly narrow but just follow the home made sign and pass the site entrance and turn round a few metres along the road to come back on yourself - it's a doddle then. Prettily landscaped with a dog walk and viewpoints/seating areas. Regularly mown and everything in excellent order. EHU, Grey Water Disposal and fresh water available for each pitch. Slightly sloping site but easily fixed. Cassette emptying area is very well organised as is recycling. The CL is at the top of a very steep hill. We were lucky enough to be there during the Annual Rush Bearing celebrations (first weekend in September). Well worth it. Kudos to all involved in that mammoth effort! It's the first time we'd been to Calderdale, which is absolutely lovely. Lots of big hills for my cyclist husband to toil up and incredibly courteous and supportive motorists he says. A far cry from where we live that's for sure. The locals are very friendly and while there isn't much in the way of NT/EH sites etc, the local towns/canals are interesting for their industrial history and architecture. Excellent circular bus route only metres from the site too. The real prize is the views though. We look forward to going back.

Absolutely wonderful

Rooley Farm
A beautiful, immaculately maintained site. With mains electricity, water and grey waste drain on the pitch we we're very comfortable. The large, flat grass field was in great condition. There is an excellent black waste area and multiple, well marked recycling bins to support the sites recycling policy. Being at the top of a hill, the views from the site are stunning. The owners are very helpful, friendly and a pleasure to deal with. A useful information pack is provided on arrival. The road to the site is steep and the entrance needs to be taken cautiously but is perfectly manageable with a 5.5m caravan and a long estate car. A great site and superb value.

Lovely Site

Rooley Farm
This was a fabulous site, but if you are a Motorhome, do beware, the grass can get very soft and we got stuck despite being at the top of the field and there had not been any rain. We were lucky that a caravaner was able to give us the tug we needed so did not have to pay the £20 fee to be rescued. We were given lots of information and a very warm welcome, a hint about the state of the ground would have saved us the trouble.

Nice site

Rooley Farm
Visited this site recently and probably didn't see it at it's best due to the amount of rain before and during our trip. It has everything you need and the views from here are very good. The new house builds close by can cause the approach road to be very congested at times.
