Why stay here ...

Broughton Hall CL is a peaceful site set in 1.5 acres of well mown grass, along 2 sides of a moated farmhouse and amongst a few old fruit trees. It is on a working family farm with extensive walks from the site.

It is situated in Mid-Suffolk just off the A140 (Ipswich to Norwich) and five minutes from the A14 making it a very central point for touring Suffolk and neighbouring counties.

The site is open all year round with 2 pitches with ‘re-enforced’ grass and a hard standing lay-by area for extreme conditions. Everyone has space for an awning, one car and can be well away from other vans. We pride ourselves on our lawn and so the site has 9 EHU, with 10amps, so that every pitch has time to recover between visitors. Coarse fishing is available in the moat with Rudd, Tench and a few Carp.

Wi-fi is free to everyone on site.

We are about 30 miles from the major seaside resorts of Southwold, Aldeburgh and Felixstowe with Lowestoft 40 miles away. Going inland we are 30 minutes from the cathedral town of Bury St. Edmunds, with it wonderful selection of shops and the tranquil Abbey Gardens also 40 minutes from the medieval wool towns of Lavenham and Long Melford.

Facilities on site ...

  • Battery charging
  • Coarse fishing
  • Dog walk from site
  • Information room
  • Recycling facilities
  • TV reception: good
  • Wi-Fi

Excellent CL Site

Broughton Hall
We have just spent the Easter weekend at this site and, despite some of the worst weather before our arrival - with several other CLs cancelling bookings - this site managed to stay open and did not disappoint. We arrived late and in the dark with driving rain, The owner came and made sure we had been able to site our caravan and we knew where the water, EHU was etc. The site and surroundings were exceptional. Very quiet, very beautiful and very rural and yet has excellent transport links to Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds, the Coast and many more places. We chose to stay on the site and explore on foot. The farm has many public footpaths and the owners have also installed a lot of permitted routes - it was absolutely lovely !! Highlights included - listening to the Church Bells with a cuppa and a croissant, the Butchers in Debenham, the pop-up Bakery (don't go hungry !!!!) Top class little CL site

This site should so much better

Broughton Hall
The approach lane to the site was quite bad with a very uneven worn surface but nothing a few road plainings rolled in wouldn't solve. Going into the site was all good with plenty of space for all amongst the fruit trees and nicely cut grass. Other reviewers say it's laid back, I'd say I was let down by the lack of contact from the owners. In fact there was nothing, nada. One thing, They had wifi on site, nothing anywhere to tell you what the passwords were. No. did you find us ok or did you have a good trip, again nothing. With a bit more of an effort from the owners I'm certain it would be a great site to visit and would reflect that by more people visiting. A great shame !!

So laid back!

Broughton Hall
We have just spent 3 nights on this lovely site and wished we could have stayed longer. The site is very spacious and you can choose your pitch. We had the beautiful house and moat to one side of us and the church to the other. Sitting in the sun listening to the birds and watching the family of rabbits playing in the orchard was just the tonic we needed. The area is brilliant for walking with lots of public footpaths close by. The owners of the site are very relaxed and leave you alone but are happy to help if you have any questions. We will definitely be returning to this great site.

Broughton Hall
We enjoyed out time here. Very spacious site, you can often pick your pitch- we tucked ourselves away beside walnut, plum, Apple and pear trees. We were pleased to have a bit of space to kick a ball around in. Very pleasant and welcoming owner. Thank you.
