The Long Shop Museum
A museum with a wide range of industrial and agricultural machinery, steam engines and electric vehicles.
View and BookHill Farm Certificated Location is in a rural setting, and yet conveniently located for easy access to the A12. The coast at Dunwich is less than 5 miles away. It is open all year and adults, children and pets are all welcome. The site is located on a large, south-facing, flat field, with 5 hardstandings, 16 amp electrical hook-ups and ample space for awnings. Each pitch has its own drinking water tap and grey waste can be piped into the ditch, so effectively fully serviced pitches. The site is surrounded by mature hedges and is abutted by arable fields and young woodland to the north, although Hill Farm itself is no longer a working farm. On the CL site, there is a CDP, separate ladies and gents toilets, 3 washbasins, a coin operated shared shower and a washing machine. Also a good Wi-Fi signal across the whole site.
There is also a new commercial site adjacent to the CL, separated by a thick hedge and 2 gates, with mesh protected grass pitches, and separate hook-ups, taps, and a CDP, including a ladies and gents toilet cabin with 2 washbasins and hot water for handwashing (Grey waste can be piped into the ditch).
There is Wi-Fi available across most of the site. The 3-4 acre young woodland behind the site is easily accessible for dog walking.
The site is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding coastal areas, especially the beautiful seaside towns of Southwold (8 miles away) and Aldeburgh (14 miles away). The popular village of Westleton is 2 miles away, where there is a village store, a garage, and 2 pubs, including the well-respected Crown Inn.
There are also many nearby attractions, such as Orford and Framlingham castles, museums, Dunwich Heath National Trust Site, the famous RSPB Minsmere Nature Reserve and the charming town of Woodbridge, near to the Anglo-Saxon burial ground of Sutton Hoo. There is a petrol station and supermarket within a mile of the site. The village of Darsham and The Fox Inn, serving good food, is a mile away and you can walk there from the site on a farm track.
Darsham railway station is just over a mile and has services to London’s Liverpool Street Station via Ipswich. Saxmundham is 5 miles away, with Tesco and Waitrose supermarkets. Snape, with its world famous concert hall, is 10 miles away. The popular Latitude Music Festival on the Henham Estate in July is 6 miles away.
The woodlands, heathlands and coast are perfect for those who enjoy walking and bird watching, and the country lanes are great for cycling. There are also 3 high quality holiday lodges next to the site (each sleeping a maximum of 4 people, with 2 bedrooms) which offer accommodation for friends and relatives visiting without a caravan. The owner lives on site to deal with any problems and does regular site maintenance and cleaning.
This site is becoming increasingly popular, so advanced booking is necessary and payment due on arrival. If you have not prebooked, please do not park your unit on site until you have checked availability. Please vacate your pitch by 11:30am on the day of departure. Sorry we cannot accept credit cards.

We booked for two nights in October for a quick weekend away and picked this due to location and hardstanding. Communication from owner prior to stay was great and we received emails with everything we needed to know. The site itself is nicely laid out and we loved the idea... Show more

Please be aware that if the CL site is full and you are offered an overflow area it might be best to choose an alternative CL. (I can’t comment on the actual CL it is fair to say). The alternative pitches are not big enough to park your car next... Show more

A site with easy access from the A12 situated between Lowestoft and Ipswich. It was a work in progress when we were there as a grass pitch was being made into hardstanding. Having individual taps was a bonus. Excellent free wi fi but not sure we could get all... Show more

As many others have said the ease of access off the A12 is the first advantage of this site. It does have a separate field for non CMHC members but the Club field is well equipped with electric & water at each pitch. Pitches are generally hard standing with grassed... Show more

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely site. We didn't see Jaik to speak to very much, but his communication both before & during our stay was spot on and the information leaflet left in a sealed plastic container on our pitch was very comprehensive... Show more
